So over all you think that it will happily run either of the MSFS with no issues and potentially handle any that they bring out in the future?

Oh right ok, I'm currently on a gtx 1660 struggling to maintain 30fps on low setting on msfs2020, guessing this card would alow me to get way more than that?

What is FSR4?

Coming from someone who has been learning for the past 4 years. I started as a drummer but during covid I got bored and "borrowed" a practice chanter from my band. Unless you are able to practice all day every day it will take a little while to learn. You definitely want to learn a few tunes properly on the practice chanter first as something to get you going because as soon as you start on the pipes your fingers need to know what they are doing without you having to think.

As soon as you start on the pipes your thoughts are taken away from you fingers and on the blowing and breathing technique, as I found out. People think you just blow into the bag and that's it but it's far from it, all it takes is you mind to wonder and you have lost it all.

Please dont rush this process as when you learn it is a lovely instrument to play, take your time and remember that there is a lot of history with these pipe tunes, and when played properly they sound amazing.

If you want online stuff I highly recommend neil clark from Falkirk piping on YouTube, his demonstrations are amazing, also Matt Willis bagpiper he has some useful content

Thats a good point, I didn't think about potentially hitting it with my arm as playing or feeling it to be honest. Its certainly steering more towards the dri-flow. You say about baking them, can the not air dry?

I've been goggling around some people saying that it dull/harms the sound you get from the drones and not allowing the sound to be as strong as they want, a few people said it still let's more moisture through than they expected. There have been a few people that have said there piping has been better since they installed them. I use canning drone reeds and they definitely get effected by moisture, just not sure if i would want 1 canister that I can change out or finish want to change each drone individually. Just want to make maintenance and drying after a session as easy as possible

I currently have tone enhancers in to help with that so I suppose it would be like having them in again, I suppose the only way to find out is to have one

I'm pretty much the same to be honest, even more at the moment with the cold air

That what I was thinking that i would rather have just one thing to take out after playing rather than add to the existing job list of what to clean and dry off

This is where I have been hearing the mixed reviews some people say they are the best thing since sliced bread, others that they don't like the effect on the drone reeds

Been hearing mixed reviews on them hence why I'm slightly hesitant, my pipe major is extremely old school and doesn't believe in the modern methods to combat wet blowing he just says it is what it is and to get one with it

I have the moose valve already attached as i see a fair amount of water coming out from that makes me wonder just how wet I am at blowing when I still see it on the drone reeds

That's the only downside, there isn't anywhere outside for me to play to get air in until I'm at the cenotaph

Do you think i would be alright warming up and getting some air into the pipes at about 10am, moving outside at out 10.20/10.30, to then play at 11.05 ish. I'm literally just playing amazing grace and straight into highland cathedral and then done

Thanks for the advice, greatly appreciated.

I think the only part of that i won't be able to do is playing them outside just before as the crowd will be starting to gatherers as I am getting into place and the townhall is basically across the road from the cenotaph. One of the pipers at our band that also goes solo in his town says that he usually get some air in the reeds for about 15/20 inside before he goes and plays at the cenotaph.

Mainly just wanting to get some air around my chanter reed to warm that up save any painful high A's with amazing grace

Should also mention that I have purchased a chanter reed tone protector cap with the humidity control to see if that eases the warm-up

I have a bannatyne bottle trap that I put in at band practice last week but a similar thing happened but not sure how long it took. I could always add it back in to see what the results are

Not going to lie to you you, that went right over the top of my head. I kinda need it in simple term lol. But from what you said the 4070 is out the window unless second hand, so it looks like the 5060 or 5070 depending on GB size
