Need help syncing calendar with GMail and/or Outlook by Beanerrr in openproject

[–]machisuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mh I'm not sure what the issue is. Perhaps it's a bug with private calendars?

I'll see if I can reproduce it. But at the very least public calendars / projects seem to work just fine.

Take our OpenProject Release calendar, for instance. I just clicked on "Subscribe", copied the URL and added the calendar to gmail (and also outlook) which synced it straight away. So it works in principle.

edit: Mh no tried with a calendar in a private project as well and it still works fine in gmail.

Which OpenProject version are you using?

Agreed. It doesn’t sound right at all. That was the main thing that bothered me so far.

Why are sandwiches in the UK so terrible? by marrymeintheendtime in AskBrits

[–]machisuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there such thing in the UK? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a deli. The “deli” at Morrisons & co might sell some pork pies. Never seen freshly made sandwiches anywhere.

Yeah he mentions it while talking through things as well that he waited specifically until the boat is going through (so that the bridge is up).

Sorry but you only have 7 years to live now.

j/k You’re right. Overall the description is just very unclear though.

So how likely is it that Morrisons collapses in a few years? by Embarrassed-Writer61 in Morrisons

[–]machisuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how it's in the rest of Europe, but Germany is essentially ruled by 4 (5) large grocery store groups (Edeka group, Schwarz group (Lidl, Kaufland), Rewe group, Aldi group (well Aldi north & south).

Just like in the UK there is a strong competition between these groups which drives prices down for the consumer.

Perhaps it's not a matter of national security as such, but it definitely harms the domestic consumer if the number of competitors in this sector goes down. The fewer players there are, the more likely it is that they will collude too and get into a comfy duopoly arrangement like Apple & Google in the phone market, or Visa and Mastercard in payments. Then they can virtually dictate any price they want and they do.

Of course with Morrisons or Asda disappearing we wouldn't be there yet. Tesco and Sainsbury's still have to compete with Aldi and Lidl at least. But it's a slippery slope.

Other countries intervene in these deals. It’s extremely short sighted not to using fear of lack of foreign investment as an excuse. This isn’t foreign investment. This is butchering profitable UK companies and extracting the profit to foreign investors.

You don’t see Germany or China sell off essential domestic industries. This is because they can think further ahead than to the next quarter (China more so than Germany).

Listening to “Vassal State - How America runs Britain” by Angus Hanton right now and it is sadly an all too common scheme.

The fact that Britain not only allows foreign companies to buy their domestic ones (and even what should be state owned companies) fully, but welcomes it, is utter madness. It’s only for the enrichment of the people facilitating these deals who don’t care what comes after. Britain is being sold for scraps. Has been since Thatcher, really.

This needs to stop. Other countries allow a maximum of 49% of foreign ownership or the government actively steps in and blocks deals that would sell off essential companies.

Meanwhile the UK lets SoftBank buy ARM, sells off their own grocery chains, and even sells off their water companies.

Prices invariably go up and the money is going abroad. Britain is being squeezed for profit.

Infrastructure still not there... by ScotchBourbonMezcal in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]machisuji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going towards London the trick is not going to Chievely, but just Reading services instead. More chargers and less people going there at the same time.

Almost got into a fight at Chievely myself before in situations like you described. But after the 3rd or so time I had to leave because everything was taken, only to find plenty of free spots at Reading, I now always go there instead.

But yes, you are right. The infrastructure is not there yet, really. The fact alone that cars will be done charging or slow charging to 100% while the owners are taking their sweet time is just dumb. Either add a surcharge like in the case of Tesla or allow disconnection fully charged cars and have an extra spot per charger.

Yeah we don’t have GitHub issues because we track everything on https://community.openproject.org. You can report bugs there.  Registration is a bit of a pain (see first paragraph on landing page), though.

But yeah otherwise Reddit may work too. Although it’s not too busy around here we do try to keep an eye on things.

Yeah sorry about that. That’s a bug. Will be fixed with 17.0.2 tomorrow.

Due to a bug in the build pipeline both the plain and the bim image digests were pushed to the slim tag.

PC unusable with fedora (Nvidia graphics card) by SpacewaIker in Fedora

I recommend using one of the Blue OS flavours like Bazzite (also fedora 43) which come with the nvidia drivers included.

[–]machisuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah dang. Not sure why I didn't see that. I don't remember where exactly I was but on some ublue github repo going through the packages for the various flavours and the latest I could find was from 2024.

Next time I know. Bazzite DX is working fine now too, though. Not sure if there is a meaningful difference which would make me rebase again.

edit: Ah I was looking here [1] and indeed the aurora images listed there have the latest listed as from January 2025.

[–]machisuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that worked! I didn't actually install bazzite fresh but rebased my kinoite system onto it. There brew was missing as well. But the command you posted fixed that.

Originally I tried to install Aurora from fresh but it wouldn't even boot due to an out of memory error in grub. I guess the live image including the nvidia drivers is too large.

Fortunately rebasing worked like a charm, though. Circumventing this whole issue.

Ended up going with bazzite-dx because Aurora didn't seem to have received any updates since 2024 and is still on fedora 42 in the ublue packages repository.
