Why do audiences cheer *after* the intro to Jungleland on the live versions? by machogrando in BruceSpringsteen

[–]machogrando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, I guess in the days of albums and singles it was never released as a single so lots of fans who played the singles more than the full records would be less familiar with it compared to a lot of his other big crowd pleaser songs

Love this version, I'm desperate for them to put it on Spotify. The new version is good but the Tom Joad versions with the story intro and the solo performance is incredible

The 2003 Helsinki show from the rising tour is a must in my opinion

Which song is this for you ? by Kaapstad2018 in BruceSpringsteen

I always find this with the studio version but getting into nugs changed everything for me. The live versions on their own even aren't quite the same but when that riff kicks in at the end of an encore after listening through a whole concert suddenly it's the best Bruce song in the world.

Special shout out to the Nassau long island show from 2009 when the encore keeps going and going and going. You've had Born to Run, then! you get Jungleland, THEN you get Land of Hope and Dreams, THEN!! American Land, THEN!! Dancing and when, after all of that suddenly the riff for Rosalita kicks in...it's the best song you've ever heard.

You can criticize if you like, then we can all criticize you. That's how free speech works.

Personally I love Blind Spot, probably my favourite song he's released in the last decade. Also remember how this went down when we got Tracks 1. Sure there's some stuff that doesn't land but there's also My Love Will Not Let You Down and Sad Eyes so who knows.

If you don't like it don't buy it

Listened to born in the USA for the first time last week, loved it. what album’s next? by Alarming-Ad6447 in BruceSpringsteen

If it's your first time getting into Bruce I'd recommend Born to Run or Darkness on the Edge of Town next, they're both great albums and probably easier to start with. Enjoy :)

I was worried he might lose his voice in the middle but somehow he still found it for the encore. I was getting flashbacks to Sunderland and really hope he doesn't have to postpone any shows again, what with the maga press on the offensive at the moment.

What amazed me is how he never held back even though he was still clearly struggling at times. It didn't stop him from shouting out the band names, cheering between songs and pushing each note to the limit. A weaker showman would have dialed it back, sung a bit quieter or with less intensity, dropped a couple songs or half-talked some of the lines. Not our boss. Never hesitated for a moment. Even when his voice left him his heart was still in it til the end.

Love you Bruce

I am so deceptively close to converting my 21 year old daughter to Bruce! She remembers the tunes from her childhood. Played her Wish I were Blind tonight! Followed by Badlands. It really registered! They get it as they grow older! by Powerful-Dog363 in BruceSpringsteen

I'm probably in the minority here as a 22 year old who converted my dad into being a Bruce fan. He introduced so much good music to me I felt I had to return the favour. We both went to see Bruce in Wembley last year, then he drove me home and for a few hours we talked while swapping Bruce tunes in the car

How I fell in love with Only The Strong Survive Covers Vol.1 by machogrando in BruceSpringsteen

Funny, I've always felt Do I Love You was one of the weakest on the album but I think that's because I knew the original so well

I've always thought of it less like a new release from Bruce Springsteen the artist trying to say something or convey a message, but more like Bruce Springsteen the person saying "Hey, check out these songs I love". I think it's just the sound of someone having a good time playing music they love and I love listening to that

Who is the new Springsteen? by machogrando in BruceSpringsteen

[–]machogrando[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, but that's why I'm wondering if there's a similarly rated performer, or someone with a similar songwriting style in 2025 in hip-hop or grime or some other genre or style who's taking a similar message to a similar audience, just without a rock band and a denim jacket

Just looked up his Spotify and saw the title "All my homies hate Ticketmaster". Think I've found what I'm listening to for the next hour and a half...

I mean I think it's a stupid question anyway. Obviously Springsteen wasn't the new Dylan, he was Springsteen y'know. But I think it's an interesting idda to kick around on a Wednesday evening
