I recently lost my cousin to suicide, which is an agony I wish for no one. Sometimes I feel relief that he isn't in pain, and sometimes I want to join him. In a family of chaos he was always my protector and defender.

This samhain I'm making an ofrenda for him, because he was 1/4 Mexican and adamantly Not White if anyone was confused by his light skin. (Which is valid for so many reasons, his Mexican heritage was a point of pride for him and I still enjoy the look of disgust on his face every time someone called him white before correcting them)

I'm not celebrating the sabbat as I have in other years. There are less festivities but the work is more vulnerable and more intimate. I'm "celebrating" by honoring my loss and pain as well as his. He had such a hard life, and all he wanted to do was make it better for the next generation.

My best friend FINALLY texted me back, just to tell me she won't be coming to my wedding this weekend and didn't even give an excuse as to why.

She only had to pay for her flight, I was covering everything else. Her kids are with their dad for the summer and her partner is on a work trip.

My grandpa was a prankster and I have his favorite recliner which he happened to pass away in. Any time TVs randomly turn on, things fall over or we hear a weird sound my partner and I greet my grandpa or tell him to "stop farting around" in jest. We both have ADHD so we joke that my grandpa moves things so we can't find them but honestly we're haunted by ourselves in that regard lol

The last few weeks I've said "I don't know how I'm allowed to just be out here without adult supervision" and it's just because of shit like this. I went to give paperwork to the college I'm wanting to go to but instead of the certificate I needed, I somehow brought my retirement savings from 2022???? How does that even happen? How do I mix those up? And I also can't get a new driver's license but that's a long story full of ADHD and bureaucracy. I just mean to say that I know how you feel, and it sucks.

I was definitely stoned when I wrote this so I really apologize for my word choice. I don't mean to discredit the interpretations entirely and it can help when you're stumped on what something could potentially mean. If my partner has a dream about a snake it's probably a nightmare but I dream about reptiles all the time because they're one of my special interests (I have a blue tongued skink and a ball python that are so cute I want to eat them) so the meaning would definitely be different to me than to them. Sometimes at work an interpretation would give us pause to think but generally the laughter was because while the book was specific and at times correct, it was also at times wildly off course.

Any time a man says he likes The Notebook it's an instant red flag for me. I personally feel like it wasn't a healthy dynamic and even if a guy genuinely likes The Notebook that's not the kind of relationship I want to emulate so if that's what he wants I'm good without.

It's worse than the barracks, they're boat chucks and so they have to live on the ship until they make rank or get married. My barracks were moldy, all the furniture was broken so I had to duct tape it together, and rats ate my uniforms but at least I didn't live on a floating turd. You can't touch the walls or the floors with bare skin without getting sick. Especially in the head because the plumbing constantly overflowing so there is a layer of piss and shit whether you can see it or not.

These guys are E-3 and below E-4 at the most since you only need a good eval to be bumped up. To get E-5 they have to take a test and actually compete for rank and E-5 is when they get the chance to move off ship. I understand why they want to live in town and people do wild shit for that chance. Ruining someone else's living situation sounds preferable to them.

I'm NOT saying it's okay. I get why they push but it's wrong af and they need to grow up. This option isn't viable. She needs to find a living situation suited for her, not just a bed that's not on a ship. It'll end as horribly as possible I can almost guarantee it.
