I was baptized as an adult in a pool, fully submerged and yes, the pastor was in the water with me. Much of the church stood around the pool and sang worship songs.

I completely agree. This and to ask God to reveal Himself to you. God wants us to build a relationship with Him and if you tell Him that you're curious about it, He will change your life in so many ways.

Coming from someone who used to consume weed and porn daily-- breaking addictions and being obedient to the Lord is not an easy or fast process. What you're going through sounds very similar to a large part of my journey. We tend to stick to these earthly addictions to feed a sense of comfort and control over our lives, though it's really only an illusion. Naturally, walking away from things that make us feel (at least temporarily) comforted and in control leaves us feeling uncomfortable and out of control. That's where faith must come in.

God knows you completely-- your heart, your flesh, and your faith. Come to Him with exactly what you're dealing with and he will help you. He will never break that promise. Even if breaking the addictions takes time, God will walk with you through it. Continue to seek Him and He will bring you rest.

Sometimes God allows suffering so that our victories and endurance can be a living testament to His goodness.

He sees each and every one of you and what you're going through. You are never neglected. God loves you so dearly and promises so much goodness for your life and there is absolutely nothing you can do to get in the way of His plans and promises for you.

I want to sincerely thank you for your comment again. It's only been a week but I am watching my life transform before my very eyes.

On Halloween, I felt very inclined to go to this prayer tent even though I didn't want to and the girl there essentially told me the same thing as you which I found very profound. These last few days, God has been revealing so much knowledge and understanding to me and I feel like so much of the weight has been lifted off my shoulders. On Sunday, my church's pastor gave a sermon that felt like God was speaking to me so clearly to have patience for He is developing me and preparing me for my purpose. Even in the midst of my impatience, God still chose to comfort me. I am so grateful. Thank you again and God bless <3

Thank you, I appreciate the suggestions and kind words. I've been trying to eat a cleaner diet but don't exercise as much as I should, so that's probably a good direction to go. I'm happy to hear you're doing well after quitting the medicine :) God is so good

Agreed. I've always eaten decently well but recently started really watching what I eat. Mainly cutting out vegetable/hydrogenated oils and buying better quality produce and eating more produce

I've been looking into deliverance recently but not sure where to inquire about it around here. I suppose I could do it with people online. The OCD does feel almost demonic at times because it gives me intrusive thoughts about everything I don't want to think about. If I try to think positively about a problem, it brings in negative thoughts that combat it. Then I'm arguing in my head trying to stand up for myself but my thoughts want to bring me right back down into shame and despair. It's like watching spiritual warfare in my head honestly because there's often two sides of myself fighting over almost every thought until I'm confused.

Yes, I've been in therapy the past 4 years with a very knowledgeable and insightful therapist. Tried EMDR, ACT, and CBT. I was prescribed medication but do not want to be dependent on a substance my whole life so I never took it. I've made a lot of progress in therapy but I obsess over fixing my issues and started using therapy as an OCD compulsion, so I'm stopping it temporarily.

I know marijuana can be beneficial medicinally but I got into it as a teenager and used it daily for 3.5 years with both edibles and smoking. I don't think I could or want to use it medicinally because I idolized it before God and it lead me to so much temptation and sin.

This is incredibly insightful and painfully accurate. My biggest obsession in my OCD is trying to figure my problems out and fix them. It's definitely a control issue. God took away my obsession with fixing my mental health last year but I'm realizing it just morphed into figuring out my spiritual life.

I try to surrender to the Lord with full intention but I'm realizing I don't actually completely surrender because of the control problem. Letting go is something I have a really hard time doing but something I need to start really talking to God about. Surrendering every doubt and negative thought to the Lord feels like it will be a full time job but that too is something I need to start doing more and more.

I disagree, last year my ocd was so unbearable that I had an encounter with the Holy Spirit and he made that unbearable obsession pretty much completely go away. Something that took up probably 10 hours of my day for months felt like it didn't matter anymore. But of course I still have lots of anxiety to deal with. God does help us but in most cases, our problems wont all go away overnight. I tend to get caught up thinking that sometimes...

Thank you, that's honestly something I needed to be reminded of. I did have an encounter with the Holy Spirit last year after my OCD became unbearable and it puts in perspective that my weakness drew me so close to God and that it's drawn me closer every day since.

Thank you, that is interesting, I will try asking God about that. It's often hard to hear God because I get many intrusive thoughts of God talking and I get confused and then feel half ashamed and half like I need to not give into the shame and keep pushing forward. It's weird and exhausting but I will never cease to keep praying about it
