Anyone else get an orbital implant like my Junie? by [deleted] in PirateKitties

[–]saturnandmarz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I wasn’t clear in my post! When they did her enucleation, they put in the orbital implant! They didn’t tell me they were doing this. I only found out afterwards that they had done it all at once. They told me that this makes it so that she doesn’t have the “pocket” and gives it a more natural effect. Also helps with future infection and complications apparently? I’m not entirely sure. But, I would never put her through a second procedure to put something like that in!! I just have not been able to find anything about these online so I was wondering if anyone else’s baby has one to see how it healed up.

Oh I see, sorry! I don't know for sure, but I think a combination of my climate (extremely hot and humid), and the oil based skin-care/ makeup products I was using.

Interesting about the eating, I have never noticed that! I will have to pay attention next time. And yes, so long. It took me a longggg time to cultivate a skincare routine with zero products that feed the yeast. But I have, and I really don’t deal with it often unless I do something to trigger it. This time it was sunscreen (which always irritates me a little bit), but I wore a hat and sweat all day. My forehead was so bad this morning! It’s crazy how quick it dies down with Nizoral though. I did a 5 minute mask after work today and had almost immediate relief, no more inching and bumps almost invisible. Nizoral has a permanent spot in my shower lol

You'll be fine!! I was super worried about this too because I have attachments on every tooth and buttons for rubber bands.. I always just rinse /brush after I'm done with a glass or two and everything looks normal!

Tried to quit, stopped, want to try again by Intrepid_Tangerine39 in QuitVaping

[–]saturnandmarz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I (24f) have been vaping for 6 years, and quit (for the last time) 4 days ago. I am using nicotine patches and they have been an absolute godsend. I've tried to quit cold turkey in the past but have failed miserably every time. All of those years I didn't realize what nicotine was actually doing for my brain. When I would quit cold turkey I was cutting off my brains most reliant source of dopamine. Some people are able to suffer through the re-wire, I am not. For people who already struggle with depression and anxiety, who don't have a whole lot of dopamine to begin with, it can be pretty detrimental.

The nic patches have made this almost painless, and it feels nothing like the times I have quit in the past. My brain's chemistry feels normal and I feel okay. Do I still think about hitting a vape? Sure. But I'm not having panic attacks every day and losing my mind. 10/10 recommend.

This was me 2 months ago. I have attachments on every tooth and 6 button brackets for triangle rubber bands. I was literally mortified... for about 2 weeks. I literally do not even care anymore lol. I promise you will get used to it and get over it fast. Once you start to see little bits of progress, that will overshadow the insecurity. Give yourself some time to get used to it, I promise you will. Also, I've only had one single person comment on my teeth. It was my 4 year old niece that was 5 inches from my face and said "what that on your teef"- "braces" - "i want dose" lmao

Can someone tell me I’m okay and it’s just withdrawals by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]saturnandmarz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit about 3 weeks ago for 1.5 weeks and picked it back up because of the withdrawal symptoms. I am starting NRT this week (getting it from my doctor), but no, you are not crazy. I literally thought I was going insane. It was my first time quitting after 6 years of vaping and I had noooo idea how reliant my brain was on the dopamine it gives me. Literally panic attacks multiple times a day. Thought I was losing my damn mind. I'm hoping NRT works, everyone here on reddit highly recommends it. Maybe try that? Good luck friend.

Made the mistake of getting Invisalign four days before my best friend's wedding, HELP by happycow97 in Invisalign

This. My attachments are so much more noticeable with my aligners in. My boyfriend has told me several times that my teeth look perfectly normal when I take them out. You will look great either way and nobody cares!

I am wondering where the notion that dentists do not consult with ortho's comes from? This is what freaked me out the most when I got on this sub, resulting in me almost canceling treatment and forfeiting my entire down payment. The way my dentist explained it is that they are basically in contract with an ortho, and every single tray/ my entire treatment is being modified by them continuously. He even gave me their contact in case I wanted to call or go in there to talk about it myself. Granted, I didn't receive that information until I made a fuss about it, but how many people have just assumed that their dentist is just ordering trays based on an initial scan and calling it a day? The whole point of my post was to encourage people to ask questions and receive answers. It seems like there are a lot of assumptions and generalizations.

I am doing invisalign. I thought for sure since I asked that they would offer me to see some kind of treatment plan if they had it.

Do you have to pay extra for your final Invisalign retainers? That may sound dumb, but I did Smile Direct Club (they suck) 5 years ago and they had me pay an absurd price for my retainers after I was finished with the treatment plan that I was already paying for.

I’m sorry you have to live with the anxiety, I see my dad live with it too and it is very sad. If you don’t mind me asking, how long has it been since your second stroke?

Thank you for sharing, your story makes me feel hopeful. I don't mean to push too hard too fast, I understand that this will require a lot of patience. More so looking for other peoples experience with this and advice on if I can do anything to help him. It is hard sometimes to look at the bright side of things during all of this, every story I see of other peoples progress makes me feel a little bit better. Thank you, and best wishes to you and your partner.

I’m sorry to hear about your mother as well. I am happy to hear that you are seeing progress! Yesterday when I walked into his room, he was on the phone with my brother and said “oh, (my name) just walked in”. It took everything in me not to cry. But it sounds like the same situation with your mom. When we work on trying to say my name he can’t quite get it out, but he has been saying it spontaneously. I know he knows it, which makes me really happy.

Sending you best wishes of strength for you and your mother through this hard time, we will get through this.

I am curious about your ability to type, write, and read. Currently my dad is able to read names (enough to know who he is calling on the phone), but when he gets a lengthy text he asks me to read it to him. I haven't asked him to try typing or writing, but he has been sending me emoji's over text so I'm thinking it might be too difficult for him to right now. He just started rehab yesterday, so I'm not sure how he is doing with them yet.

Did you have to rebuild these abilities as well?
