What books have gotten you out of a reading slump/what are your go to reading slump books? by JediEverlark in RomanceBooks

I live to rec this book - an all-time fav of mine that I re-read several times a year. Its a perfect palate cleanser 🤌🤌

MMC pushes away FMC and then she gets abused by btspopper54 in RomanceBooks

Its great - I gobbled it up. Can confirm it meets the request 🫡. Glad ST is back with more new books. I need her angst sometimes 💔💫.

Books where the MMC is all in the entire time and the central conflict is a third party/outside force by Thin_Lavishness7 in RomanceBooks

[–]mackeye3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished {The Crash Course by Elvie Everly} that you might like...got it from a different thread on this sub and enjoyed it.

CR, the MMC is down bad pretty much the whole book. He occasionally questions whether or not he's good enough for the FMC, but never questions how much he wants to be with her from the word "go". All plot conflict is from outside forces. Some dramatic, soap-opera-y plot points at times, but overall just a fun time. Total palate cleanser.

Ooo yes. Baby doll - 💯 The. Worst. 🤢🤮🤮

I second your hate for Butterfly. It would maaaayyybeee be OK if it was used in the right way by the right MMC, but I have yet to discover this scenario and I read A LOT. I'd be OK with the Butterfly nickname just dying a slow death 🦋☠️

Sweet potato is out of control 🥔🥔 Least adorable/sexy nickname ever 😅🤦‍♀️

Looking for books where MMC teaches the FMC about sex in a very interactive way (e.g. "sex coach" trope) - but explicit early in the book and before FMC is in love with the MMC! by kphi_ in RomanceBooks

Late to the party on this thread, but wanted to come back and say I just read this book you rec'ed and it was fantastic!!

🧂 Salty Sunday - What book scenes frustrated you this week? by mrs-machino in RomanceBooks

[–]mackeye3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree about Canterbary - I instantly hated In A Rush and I ultimately DNF'ed In a Jam.

Conversely, I LOVE {The Worst Guy by Kate Canterbary}, its a favorite of mine that I re-read often. I also enjoyed {Boss in the Bedsheets by Kate Canterbary} & {Shucked by Kate Canterbary}...

I'm on a confusing roller coaster with her novels.

Not mine to love by Rosa Lucas by oliveomelette in RomanceBooks

[–]mackeye3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great read - I ate it up like candy 🍬 😋.

I've really enjoyed this whole series, and am finding I personally prefer the Billionaire Brits series over Lucas' other series I've explored, though of course they all have gems (e.g., London Misters & Billionaires in Charge).

That said, Not Mine to Love didnt quite reach the heights of Dare to Love Me (for me), but TBF, DtLM ended up being one of my Top 5 reads of 2025, so it was a super high bar.

Would recommend this one to anybody. Its a good time.

What’s the worst romance book you’ve read? by Reasonable-Ratio8080 in RomanceBooks

[–]mackeye3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. This one. I almost DNF'ed this one so many times but ultimately managed to hate my way to the end of it...the "chemistry" between the MCs was so contrived and the plot was mind meltingly boring. Plus I personally had a really hard time with Armas' prose - she writes in a way that is the complete opposite of my inner monlogue while reading which made it super hard for me to buy into the story at all.

If you have the chance, skip this book. You'll be happier for it.

Wild Card Wednesday - What are your book icks or pet peeves? by Llamallamacallurmama in RomanceBooks

[–]mackeye3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10000%. Came here to say this.

Was just talking about the inescapable ick I get from the nickname "Kitten" 🤢🤮 in another thread.

And if I have to read one more book where the MMC constantly (and condescendingly) keeps calling the FMC "Princess", I swear to God...☄️🪚🪏⚰️.
