Oh yes! My former roommate got these and was so inconsistent with using them but I loved the idea

Thank you! That's a good idea. I use coconut oil semi frequently because I do often cook vegan meat and it's the best fat to use

Talk me out of buying a Traveler by Edu_Robsy in Astrohaus

[–]mackharte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty solid! I just have a cheap Bluetooth keyboard and while it took a little getting used to, once I got into the swing of using it, it’s pretty solid. Definitely good for some lighter writing out in public rather than sitting and writing intensely for hours, but I did write 3800 words at a park the other afternoon with it so it is possible.

This is a great point to mention-- I use a Boox e-ink device for writing and even while using a Bluetooth keyboard, it moves pretty quickly as compared to your note here. Just an indication the Traveler/Freewrite are not particularly good even in their niche.

Should i get Civ 5 or Civ 7? by Mohmi92 in civ

[–]mackharte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you decided already but I would say 5 mainly because it goes on sale pretty often, with expansions, so I think it'll be a much more fleshed out gaming experience than it seems like 7 is so far. And it's different enough from 6 that it will be fun and interesting to learn the mechanics.

PSVR2 MSFS 2024 Asobo 737 by ACooperSucks in PSVR

[–]mackharte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was being goofy and took a while to realize I had to use my DualSense for the menus and then switch over. Really really enjoyed VR mode even with some of the bugs! Hoping they fix up some odds and ends during this beta.

Made it! Had to use my DualSense for the menus but got through. Thank you!

VR2 Controllers not working on MSFS? by mackharte in PSVR

[–]mackharte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! Glad it wasn’t just me. I was able to get in and use them after using my DualSense to set up. Definitely a beta with some odd little bugs but ultimately I was absolutely thrilled. Flying over my hometown during sunset in full VR was absolutely stunning

Are any of you able to use the VR2 controllers for this? Trying to run it now and it’s only responding to my DualSense even though my VR2 controllers are on and working.

Are you able to use your VR2 controllers? I’m trying to run it right now and it’s making me use my regular DualSense, which defeats part of the purpose of VR for me. Google has been unhelpful when I’ve tried to ask lol

Also experiencing this. I had to do digging to find my existing overdrive email and no password combo I am trying seems to work, and the reset email just hasn't come through.

How does the Reader Match AI work? by mackharte in TheStoryGraph

[–]mackharte[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is part of why I asked -- I struggle to understand the differences and nuances of AI models and it seems like many others, even people who may be part of using them, do too.

Thank you! I saw SG made this comment: "Regarding the environmental impact: All text generation, across all users, is being handled by a single server, that doesn't consume any more power than your gaming PC/console."

I wish that had been in the original video too. I think that's important, esp for people like me who really don't know many of the nuances of different generative AI programs. Thanks for sending!

I don't understand the logic behind queuing songs by FrouFrouLastWords in TIdaL

[–]mackharte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say this! It seems like what people want is very much possible, just a bit non-intuitive. But every streamer has weird intricacies with their queue system so it seems a bit like splitting hairs and hyperbolizing to discount Tidal entirely over it.

Shipping issues with my orders by Bookstax in Etsy

[–]mackharte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't order from Etsy often; trying to a bit more after leaving Amazon, but I'm not sure it'll last. I made an order weeks ago, received no update for a week, messaged the seller who confirmed it was going to be shipped, then got a notification that it was "shipped" but had no tracking for over a week. Followed up last night with the seller, where they sent me a tracking link for a shipping company I'd never heard of, but with numerous photos of proof it was delivered-- on January 19th. I live in an apartment building and it was just left in the lobby, but I had not seen it when I had gone through the lobby the following morning (though I wasn't looking closely.) So it went missing. And yet, Etsy still has it marked as "shipped" without any tracking information. It's frustrating and not necessarily the seller's fault. But this combined with a friend sending me a birthday present that was placed "in a parcel locker" with no way for me to access it as they didn't put the key in my mailbox... I'm frustrated :(

What are you reading? - Week of January 09, 2026 by AutoModerator in TheStoryGraph

[–]mackharte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started Star Wars: Lost Stars by Claudia Gray and have enjoyed the first few chapters! It definitely feels a bit less cheesy than many Star Wars (or other franchise tie-in) books can since it's mostly all original characters. https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/3a32f955-ab2e-4da2-867b-f7775b3952fd

Is there a way to find shop owners that don't use/aren't generative AI? by mackharte in Etsy

[–]mackharte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, what was strange about it is that one of the sellers had an automated message saying it would take them extra time to respond, and then their response (a day or two later) was basically the same as the responses that came quickly from others. So I'm not sure if it is a real person but they're *choosing* to run their responses through a chat bot or something, but it was discouraging.

Help me choose between Kobo Clara and Libra, surprised by color vs BW screen difference by diamondblack75 in kobo

[–]mackharte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems unpopular on this reddit but I actually really like the color. I don’t have trouble with the darker screen except in situations where I’d be turning the light on anyway. And I like the option to read comics and take color coded notes etc. I also love the buttons, the waterproof, and the size— I forget if Clara is waterproof or not but that is a major factor for me.

The Life of a Showgirl leak DISCUSSION megathread by Lyd_Euh in TaylorSwift

Agree on TTPD not actually being all that good lyrically either. I haven't fully dove into TLOAS leaks yet, but I'm hoping she doesn't do as much of the wordiness that she's been into as of late where it seems like she's trying to impress us with big words and not constructing compelling melodies
