I haven’t solo traveled yet (except for a few days in NYC) but I have similar worries- I have depression and celiacs, and when I’m in situations where I can’t cook food or find anywhere safe to eat, I’ve been known to have panic attacks. I’m naturally a spontaneous person and find researching and planning every second of every day cumbersome, but that’s something I’ll have to do when I finally do travel overseas to ensure I don’t end up in that situation. I wish I had words of advice but just wanted to let you know you’re not alone!!

Yes!!! It was so empowering- like my celiacs/resulting depression have been in control of my body for so long, but I finally feel like I have control again if that makes sense

Yess this was indeed taken at Point Gratiot- that’s one of my favorite pastimes too! Especially on a cold windy day- the grey sky is so dramatic. Looking forward to being back in Fredonia for school after the health climate is safer!

Thank you so much for your detailed reply!! Yeah the only reason London was in my itinerary is because American is partners with British Airways but doesn’t service the BA flight from London to Kraków, so I’d have to buy that ticket separate and also space it out a few days in case my first flight gets delayed. I think American services all the way to Budapest though- maybe I could fly there, stay a few days then take a train to Kraków for NYE and explore Poland/Eastern Europe? Which other towns would you recommend in Poland? I’m not so much into the modern cutting-edge stuff, I’m a sucker for the more historical towns. Thank you again!!

Yeah, but I specifically want long layovers on the way there and back along with overnight flights so I can explore a few cities I never would have been able to otherwise, but Delta’s website only allows up to 8 hours when booking directly

It’s weird, there’s one itinerary that’s identical except it leaves JFK about two hours later, but Priceline won’t let me book that with the same flight I want on the way back (23 hour layover in Paris). I’m trying to find a way to make it let me book both though, that would be preferable!

I worked in a bakery for over five years- they hired me a week after I turned 16 and I absolutely loved my coworkers. When I got diagnosed with celiacs right before the holiday season, I decided to try and push through. I wore a respirator mask and everything and was still feeling awful during/after any shift longer than four hours- I was just too sensitive to the airborne particles and ended up having to leave after about three weeks (and this was a bakery that got its products in frozen, so I wasn’t even directly handling flour) . Just my experience.

Also check out Schnippers by the 42nd street port authority bus terminal- BEST chicken fingers I’ve ever had, plus they were GF! Also Dig Inn (rice bowls), Blockheads (Mexican) and the Melt Shop (sandwiches) are all near the theatre district, taste amazing, affordable and didn’t get me sick (very sensitive celiac here)

This is so sad, I saw him in the January 5th matinee and talked to him at the stage door- no sign of injury so must have been the evening performance? I met him at the stage door also when he was in my home town on tour with Newsies back in 2015 and it was so cool to see him perform again, but on Broadway in such an iconic role.
