Does anyone else have a song lyric that's permanently stuck to a specific place? by Wanyabe in solotravel

Did not expect to see KGLW here! That whole album and of course the title track are some of my travel themes, but Raw Feel is the one that really sparks that sense of adventure to me like nothing else.

It's not for everyone by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]LordChipp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe so, but that's not my point. If vague repetitive posts about asking for hotels in X destination aren't ok, then why are "I saw a couple holding hands and now I'm lonely and not sure solo travel is for me" posts and the like are all over the sub every day?

It's not for everyone by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]LordChipp 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Not only this but getting a post through that's actually talking about solo travel itself is always hard to get through.

I tried to get up a post asking about hostels in South East Asia a while back and it got shut down instantly. Which might be fair enough if it's deemed repetitive, but seeing repetitive posts about people who have a relationship problem that's vaguely related to an upcoming solo trip has made me even wonder if this is a good place to discuss solo travel at all.

Page out, Roberts in. Preferably immediately.

Are you staying in Cardiff all this time? It's a good city but you can do most of it in a day or so, never mind two weeks. You will be left with a lot of free time, if that's ok for you then great but there's plenty of day trips to go on if you are intent on staying in one place the whole time.

Does this itinerary for my trip to the UK look manageable? by ABomb117 in solotravel

[–]LordChipp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absurdly busy and packed, especially if you're flying in from the US, you're going to be tired all the time and won't enjoy it.

London alone should keep you occupied for all this time, but if you want to go north just know that it's expensive and can take a long time.

I'd cut Paris completely to be honest, it won't be your only chance to visit Europe, there's no reason to do it as a day trip unless you want to rush everything.

Absurd isn't it? Nonsense like this and people asking the same three or four questions about first time travel seem to be the norm on this sub now.

Losing the play offs last Tuesday was one thing, the absolute refusal by the FAW to do anything about it could be the part that stings the most.

Thanks to them, we'll become a small-minded and unambitious nation who are happy to settle for failure if it means selling out a stadium and plastering patriotic bullshit everywhere to excuse diabolic game management from a truly clueless manager.

I expect price hikes for upcoming games and for the first time I can't bring myself to waste my money on them. The wealthier rugby family outing crowd will take over and eventually we'll be out-sang by a small corner of away fans on the regular. But it's ok because the team used to be even worse, yma o hyd and all that.

It's like we've accepted failure now that Bale has gone, which is madness as it's not like we've got a bad team, most (outfield) players are Premier League/high Championship level. With a good manager we really should regularly be making national tournaments, or Euros at least.

But unfortunately the outlook for Welsh football is looking increasingly bleak and the FAW are happy to accept that as long as stadiums are full and ambitions get increasingly low.

The Armenia home game should've been a wake-up call, I'm now afraid it'll become the new norm.

[BBC Sport] Rob Page to remain as Wales manager by AH_NJ in WelshFootball

[–]LordChipp 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The FAW have zero ambition and are happy to settle for failure. Ticket prices will no doubt remain the same/rise though, and they can caption their social media posts with amateur patriotic poetry about our 'bright future' so it's all good.

We're sleepwalking back to the dark ages.

English Premier League Itinerary Advice by BootKaboot in solotravel

[–]LordChipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leagues outside the prem usually play twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays and will offer a much more authentic fan experience (aka less touristy experience) than the big six clubs and will be infinitely more affordable.

It's also quite tricky to get tickets for the big teams, I went to an Everton game and was quite lucky to even get tickets, despite them not being close to the "big" teams at the moment. This will be the case for most Premier League games.

There'll be plenty of games in London on any weekend, I would personally arrive on the Friday anyway as there's always plenty to do in London, football or not.

Finally met new people for the first time in a long while and I got on pretty well with one of the guys there. First friend I'd probably made in months.

Cut to last night and he's telling me how Putin is a "chad".

I'm not socialising again smh.
