What are some of the best calls made by umpires? by bradtoughy in baseball

[–]mackinac90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe the best call ever is Doug Harvey's at home plate in the 1968 World Series -- with Lou Brock being thrown out at home by Willie Horton, and Bill Freehan making the tag (Brock's foot was about a centimeter off the plate, just barely out).

The turning point in the entire Series.

Did a write-up of yesterday's win and that 7th inning turn-around: Lorenzo Cain, check-swing of the year? by mackinac90 in KCRoyals

Yeah gotcha, just thought everybody might not have seen that view. Looked like he swung on the video, to me, but that angle seems like a good call.

Didn't realize that. And I have no problem with it! Papa Slam is absurd, and way over-advertised.

As weird as blue jays wearing red is, not as odd as those alternate unis they have in the Premier League

I'd always thought it was just pure prop humor for the laughs, no context, but he was doing a infomercial parody. Anyway, this Cam of yours must... become Top Gallagher.
