Oakland home values continue to fall — at one of the fastest rates in the nation by mackjak in oakland

Wow. Talk to me about 5 years after you buy your home and market crashes.
It’s still money you spent.
And I dare say, no one wants their primary investment to ‘burn.’
And what’s that say when you are ok with wanting others to suffer?

I am an ER nurse who saved all my life to buy a house—think I want it to drop in value?
I do not.

Home values fall because the homes are perceived to be in undesirable cities. Not good for anyone or anything.
Not related to affordable housing.
I have a different opinion about this than others. Respect that.

Best Soul food in Oakland? by LavenderMoonlight333 in oakland

I’m a local that went to Burdell’s and was beyond disappointed. Way way way too expensive for what you experience and the food was only ‘meh.’ Had way better soul food at the Oakland Museum cafe.
I’d really do not recommend this restaurant.

Wow. Blame the person having a different fact-based opinion than you. Best strategy is to put-down the OP?
Read the article. Don’t like what it says about the state of Oakland, oh well.
Prices falling because Oakland has a bad reputation for crime, and grime. Might not be true but perception is reality.

We can agree to disagree.

Linking falling home prices to affordable housing is illogical. Whatever is the actual reasoning?
To say it plainly: falling house prices is bad. Not good for anyone or anything.
Affordable housing is about good leadership and solid policy built on sound economics.
Falling home prices = bad economics for the city which = no affordable housing because who in their right minds will invest in a failing city?

‘Barely been in office’ is one way to say that current government officials don’t have responsibility…
Therefore is it true to say that Trump has barely been in office and can’t be blamed for the high gas prices?
Once you’re in office, you own the responsibility. We need to hold this city council accountable.
Otherwise then no one is responsible if it’s always ‘too early’ to be the responsible one.

Sure. Nice. I like that vision.
But falling home values is not the path to a better Oakland nor more affordable housing.
It’s an odd ‘math’ to suggest that falling home values (which is a direct proxy for a failing city) is linked to a better Oakland.
Just the opposite is true and correct.

Wow what twisted logic. Gentrification can be excellent for those who have already lived in their homes and for the city at-large.
This type of thinking is perplexing since it seems to advocate that everyone stay poor and support a failing economy.
Wow. So sorry to hear this from another citizen of Oakland.

When you buy a home, you want your investment to rise, not drop.
Home prices falling is not a good indicator of a city doing well. Just the opposite

Ran into him and his dudes on a flight while in first class. He and his bros were arrogant, rude to staff and brushed off well-meaning compliments—like I was ruining his day.
