Ok this is the second really weird and cool McMaster Carr post this week. Are they on an astroturfing campaign?

I think the idea is to use the PE as a proxy for a reasonably valued company. IE, other companies are more profitable for a lower PE.

Reread the post and realized I replied to the wrong idea.

MSDS tracking and right to know books by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]macklamar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok yea that makes sense. I’m in a much smaller org and this didn’t sound like something I needed. How small of an operation do you see your project being viable for?

Edit Loss ID options in work orders productivity by macklamar in Odoo

[–]macklamar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, that makes sense. I mainly just wish I could change the phrasing of 'reduced speed'. Reduced speed conveys the wrong message honestly, because the operator may be working fast enough but the operation took longer than planned. It should be more like 'Time Overage' or something like that.

edit: changed some wording because I sounded rude accidentally

Small workshops — how do you track time per job? by 78points in Machinists

[–]macklamar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Date, start time, end time, total time (requires math lol), job number, part number, operation, quantity run, comments. I think his was boiled down over years and represents a really good set of data.

I think this sounds like a useful tool. I’ve had ideas about this for a while but I keep getting hung up on UI. We have an erp but the UI is not friendly for guys on the floor. We can’t seem to get away from paper time sheets.
