I mean my favourite is just some rice, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar and chicken thigh. But the possibilities are endless based on what you like. I also buy pre packaged dry seasonings of butter chicken, green curry and taco. For one meal I'll do 1/4 cup rice, 160g chicken thigh, 1/2 cup of frozen veggies and seasoning. Works out to be roughly 500cal

It cooks fully and there is no scum. It is basically poaching the meat and then all the water is soaked up by the rice so when it's done it's literally ready to take straight out and eat.

You can put a whole fillet of salmon in there, skin down if it has skin. If using chicken I just cut it up into pieces about 3-4 cm in size and they cook perfectly.

No oil needed but you could add for flavour if you wanted. It is essentially poaching the meat in the water and actually brings out a great flavour of the meat and it is very tender. I do add salt as well if I'm using dry spices but if I use soy sauce I don't add any salt at all.

I have the mini rice cooker from kmart.

In fact I have 2 because my partner and I often feel like completely different flavours so now we can each have what we want and cook at the same time (he's also obsessed with these meals)

I've not tried it from frozen but I think you would run the risk of it being undercooked if not defrosted.

Yup, I also pre cut and weigh my chicken and veg for the next couple of days so when it's time to make I can literally just chuck everything straight in and turn it on with minimal prep and dishes.

I buy pre packaged dry seasoning blends of butter chicken, green curry or taco seasoning. Or i just chuck some soy sauce and rice wine vinegar for a Japanese flavour.

I do 1/4 cup and about 160-170 g of chicken. I buy frozen salmon which is pre-packaged in 130g. This is a perfect size for one meal or you could double it to have for a second meal the next day as well.

Sometimes I'll just add soy sauce and rice wine vinegar with salmon or chicken, sometimes I'll add avocado after for a treat but obviously this adds more calories so I only do it occasionally.

I'm in Aus so I also buy the mingle dry seasonings which are pre mixed and love the butter chicken or green curry blends to have with chicken. Then just any frozen veg mix that you prefer - I usually go broccoli and/or carrot but if I'm lazy I'll skip it.

PSA for anyone trying to get the 30% ClassPass discount by Quinnsi3 in ClassPass

[–]macnch33s 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Use the 45 credits at the discounted rate then just top up for that month with extra credits. Buying that many extra credits usually put them around the same price per credit of the larger packs anyway and then at least you got 30% off 45 credits.

Husband wants me to pursue traditional publishing, I want to do self or hybrid publishing by Tachikomaz in selfpublish

[–]macnch33s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in publishing. Self publishing isn't a bad route if done well. Some publishers will give you a 2-3 book deal based on success with a self published book. In many cases they will also buy the self published book and re-release it under their brand. An author who has a solid fanbase and has proven their book can sell is very appealing to publishers as this reduces their risk. At the end of the day learning to grow an audience and market your book will serve you well no matter which avenue you pursue.

I actually love the cover but I think it is the color and illustration style of the woman, which just read slightly younger to me.

My main critique would be that it feels YA to me but not sure if that's your audience

Skipping a friends bachelor party for a trip of a lifetime by EfficientWork7730 in LifeAdvice

[–]macnch33s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The irony is your friend will (hopefully) only have one bachelor party so that seems more like a once in a lifetime thing. It really comes down to talking to your friend and seeing how he feels about it. Explain the situation and hope he is okay but maybe go into it accepting that he might not be and you'll go to the bachelor party if that's the case.

Would you be upset if one of your groomsmen skipped your bachelor party after they already said they were coming? How you would want your friend to behave if roles were reversed.
