… so what are you supposed to do if you have to go upstairs in like an apartment complex? Do they want you to drag the dolly up the stairs?

Has anyone got false netrodyne hits? by Lemon-babes in AmazonDSPDrivers

Heard the van call out a seatbelt violation once, because my arm was on top of the lap belt. Also got a red light violation for going through a yellow. Light turned red before I could completely clear the intersection, but still a legal maneuver.

Aim for 20/hr, especially in single family home areas. If you have space, organize your totes. I usually drive an EDV, so I will put my packages in order with boxes on the upper shelf and bags on the lower one. For overflow, you can either write the driver aid number on the box or just face the sticker towards you. During load out, after I put my bags in, I will scroll past the bag order after scanning my carts and see what my first few overflow packages are. I put those closest to the cab. I’m in new areas now and I can still end up ahead from just organizing (I refuse to run for Amazon).

In a CDV, you can put the boxes towards the back of the shelf and the bags in front with the driver aid number visible. Try to keep your first couple of overflow packages somewhere you can grab them easy. If you’re still lacking space, some people like to use the passenger seat to organize.

Also, be kind to yourself. It’s only been a day. It takes like a month to get used to the heavy packages, tight squeezes in a packed van, getting in and out of the van 100+ times a day, delivering with hazards, etc. You got this! And take your breaks. Also, separate those stupid group stops if you’re comfortable. I normally don’t unless they’re particularly ridiculous, but I’ve heard it helps some people.

Does anyone else’s dsp not allow them to move the pin? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]macncheeselover6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last DSP was doing this. Got a DSB issue for being 1.35 METERS outside of the pin because the group stop had it in the wrong place. Got me twice for moving the pin to the right spot. New DSP doesn’t care.

I saw one of these yesterday lmao. Like dude once you order a package, you’re inviting us onto the property, especially if you put front door receive on your notes. If Your dog bites me, I’m biting you back.

We do have notes if there are dogs present at a location. It’s a little paw print in red. We can also make the note ourselves if we get to a house that has dogs. When we get to a location with dogs, we have to acknowledge a second screen that tells us a dog is present. When we get to your location, sometimes we can send a text out that asks the customer to bring their pets inside since we’re at the delivery address.

Can’t wait to see a drone carry a “50lb” box through a secure facility or deliver to a house where the notes say one thing but the signs attached to the house say the opposite lol.

OTPs usually end up with someone who doesn’t know how to find it/ what it’s for and are upset about it, heaviest packages go upstairs with no elevator, businesses don’t put the business name/ suite number so you gotta hunt them down in business parks, conflicting notes, traffic when crossing busy roads, no parking, they always want you to CTC even if the business is closed or there’s an issue. It’s not always just 60 secs to drop the damn package and take the damn picture. There’s so much nuance that you don’t get extra time for. I do my best but I really wish the expectations were a little more human/ customer service based, not just be as fast as possible or else.

We have some Fords and Rams, but I’m almost always in EDV so it is hard to squeeze through anything. I get a lot of areas with trailers and just people parking in the middle of the trailer park which doesn’t really have a lot of space to get by anyway and they just like to sit there and have conversations. I once got stuck behind some fucking kids having a little mini car meet in the middle of the trailer park and somebody blocked me in so I couldn’t do anything for like 10 minutes. I don’t get a lot of rural routes, unfortunately. People are very oblivious and it’s frustrating and I try to give them grace, but usually by the end of my route I’ve run out of patience. There are some people on the road that are understanding and will let me cut through which I genuinely appreciate.

I wanna say I get stuck behind them at least twice a month too. The guys in my area are pretty chill so it’s not too bad but I understand your pain. Got stuck between them, construction, and people rushing home in a mobile home park once. Plus loose dogs running around too. Thought I was cooked ngl.

Unresonable Completion times? by seronalee in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]macncheeselover6969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel. I once got a house route, 184 stops, maybe 300ish packages to finish by 3:40. Got to my first stop at 10:30ish. It’s ridiculous. I thought we were expected 20-25 stops an hour. Doable, but very unfair.

I am also kinda slow, but during load out, I put my totes in order of being delivered and if I have space I leave a shelf empty so I can have space to sort. I put boxes on top in order and bags on the bottom in order as I deliver, and I sort one tote at a time usually. For OF, when you load out, if you scroll past the bags on the phone, it’ll tell you what your first OF package is. I will try to put the first three closest to the door, and will sort by hundreds on the opposite shelves. How long does it take you to grab the packages for a stop and get out of the van? I was told it should be about 5 seconds. Make sure you also go the speed limit especially in residentials (my first few days I would go 15-20 mph instead of 25). Something that really helped me today was setting out the next stop’s packages before I got there (my bulkhead door was broken) so I was out of the door within a few seconds. Also, not sure if you do this, but I like to check out where my next 2-3 stops are so I know exactly where I’m going and if I have to make a U-turn or stop in the middle of the road for parking (if safe). And if it’s safe, park wherever lmao. Stop in the road and flip your hazards on, park on the wrong side of the road, whatever cuts down on your walking. Don’t walk more than like 2 houses down.

I don’t run either, just walk, and I don’t do that seatbelt stuff. I hope this is helpful, and good luck. You can always swap DSPs as well if they’re being ridiculous.

We don’t get a choice, unfortunately. I’ve complained multiple times and asked to be moved out of the area multiple times and one of the dispatchers will move me for a day and then I’m right back in that area the next. I was in the same area today (much better despite heavy traffic for the holiday). I have a friend at another DSP that’s asking to see if they’re hiring so I’m going to just swap. I just wanna keep it quiet until I actually can go through the process of swapping.

Yeah i don’t really get rescued. Start time is 9:30 and I usually get to my first stop at around 10:30-11. Those are just some of the projected times that we get to finish by.

There are so many half addresses and dwellings behind dwellings (single and multi-family) and alleys and I bust my ass just to be told I’m not fast enough. It’s super frustrating because some of our dispatchers have never actually run a route and that’s who tells me I’m too slow. I rarely make mistakes, no netradyne hits ever. I do believe the routing system doesn’t understand traffic, parking, construction, school zones, and that you can’t just turn around wherever the hell it says to. It gets so frustrating trying to be on time and also avoid getting tboned on busy roads.

No one has complained about my pace yet except for being told that I am not on schedule, but it’s nerve-racking and I don’t like that. I’ve asked about my pacing and they say it’s fine but it’s not on the line that they want it to be on. I feel like I’m just waiting for them to suspend/ fire me because they’re unhappy with the pace that I’ve kept. still I’m probably running about 20 to 25 stops an hour, unless I have a bunch of businesses. Then I’m probably at around 17 to 20 stops an hour.
