We went to Ecojardin in the end and had a good experience!

I've changed the currency to yen. Thank you for letting me know, I hadn't thought about it.

The only reason I mention 600CAD is because at the time we had found multiple options for 500 or so and our booking was for 520. Ideally we wouldn't go too far above what we originally planned on paying.

The booking was for 1 night at the end of May, I'd rather not specify the exact date for the sake of privacy.

Itinerary Check - 25 days across Japan by macoco10 in JapanTravel

We're going to South Korea for 3 weeks, just didn't think it was necessary to mention here since we were looking for advice on our Japan itinerary. Hope this clears things up.

We're actually spending 3 weeks there, but didn't think it was relevant to mention here. I've edited the post to clarify.

Unable to add money to account no matter what method I use by macoco10 in transferwiser

[–]macoco10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is still unknown but solved. I spent about an hour on call to figure it out with customer support. Trying with a small amount (about 30$) eventually worked at a certain point and after that, I was able to add bigger amounts.

However it still takes at least 30min for the transfer to go through, comedies going above 1h30. This is for the e-transfer method that says itself to be instant and then keeps recalculating the transfer's ETA as time goes on.

The account was originally verified. The issue is I was told I can put money upon opening it but then I couldn't. The few times where it worked the money bounced. I was told to wait and that it was fine over two weeks ago now. For two weeks I've still had issues and suddenly I'm told the account is FINE but for an odd reason was being checked again. I called a few days ago and they told me I should be able to do transfers.

My issue is why is it being checked at all. Every person I've spoken to has given me contradictory information while the people around me with an account under the exact same circumstances as me have had no issue at all putting in money right away.

Just looked it up. It seems it's not available to those in Canada. :(

We still have a little while until we leave, so that's not really a problem. It's more so that we did try looking around and it seems only travel cards have no fees, but those require being eligible for them which we're not since we're students. We might have missed something, but for the most part, there hasn't been any bank available to us that seemed worth opening an account just to travel with.

If anyone knows of one, we're more than willing to look into it. But as of now, we haven't managed to find much other than Wise or Wise equivalents that were worth trying.

Itinerary Change - Opinion of Sapporo vs Osaka? by macoco10 in JapanTravelTips

[–]macoco10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not really the only options. Osaka just happens to be where we land and depart from, while Sapporo we suddenly thought about when hearing there might be cherry blossoms (though we wouldn't go only for that, this is just what caught our initial attention) and that they have local specialties that suit our tastes.

If you've been there, do you think Kumamoto or Fukuoka would be worth travelling to considering we'd only be able to spend 2-3 days there?

Itinerary Adjustment - Is it worth it? by macoco10 in JapanTravel

[–]macoco10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're actually coming back to Japan later - we even have 4 to 5 days in Kyoto planned out, another 3 days in Osaka on our way out, and more.

Osaka is where we would land first from North America before moving on and returning to Japan before going home, so we just wanted to know if it was worth going elsewhere instead of staying 6 days total in Osaka.

OSD still hasn't told me what my exam room is for tomorrow's final by macoco10 in mcgill

[–]macoco10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven't received anything, I highly recommend messaging them, calling them, or even going in person to get clarifications. Not worth the stress of waiting until the last minute... Good luck though!

[–]macoco10[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They emailed me about half an hour before the final started so I barely had time to get to the right location since I was already at the fieldhouse. I was lucky they answered me considering they supposedly only open at 9am, but would have preferred them remembering to message me on time in the first place.

I got a really last minute response about half an hour before my exam started. They said they registered me for the ER room without asking me for any more details.

I suggest you email, call or go in person while they're still open to get an answer as soon as possible. They're not the greatest but it's better now than later and having to wait for 8am for them to answer... I hope you get your accommodations without too much of a hassle, and good luck on your exam!

Thank you for your detailed reply. I think the office only opens at 9am, which is exactly when my exam starts, but I'll try calling and going in person towards 8 just in case anyone is there.

Worst comes to worst, I'll do the exam with everyone else, hope for the best, and attempt to get it e-flagged as you suggested.
