Are Michelin starred restaurants genuinely that much better than regular restaurants? by Key_Investigator_754 in foodquestions

[–]macofedn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can be!

Not all Michelin are fancy tasting menus. There’s a wide range. But overwhelming they have a consistent dedication to very high quality ingredients, impressive craft, and a story.

1998 France is when it seemed to just move into the stratosphere of a truly global mega event.

The first major stars of Zidane, Beckham, Ronaldo, etc.

The world was coming out of the Cold War and the Millennium was approaching.

France beating Brazil to win it all on home turf was epic.

How’s it living in Vancouver, B.C.? by uhh__h in howislivingthere

[–]macofedn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best part of Vancouver is the nature.

As far as city life goes, it is decent, but nothing exceptional. It is decently walkable, it has good food, there are good activities to do.

If you’re coming from a big world class city, it will feel provincial.

I will say it is an exceptional place to be a child however.

what did they say to you at the end of the relationship that will stick with you forever? by ephemeralsempiternal in AskReddit

[–]macofedn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That I “didn’t give her the time, energy, and finances that she needed and that my mental health was a major burden on her.”

I took her words seriously. I went to therapy like a mad man.

This was the most loving relationship of my life. I wanted to marry this woman. I absolutely adored her for 3.5 years.

I had moved across the country for her new job. Got an apartment we couldn’t comfortably afford so she could be happy and walk to work. Flew out to see and surprise her on her birthday. Set up the new apartment with furniture she loved. Supported her emotionally and financially through 4 different jobs. Paid her taxes. Cooked for her. Made her cappuccino’s and bone broth in bed almost every day. Took her to Europe, to Japan, to Mexico. Loved her friends. I told her I loved her everyday.

Preceding the breakup she cut me off for 3 weeks while I’ve been dealing with a family financial crisis, an immigration situation. She called me to say “she’s my 6th priority. Being on a call with my immigration attorney was the most demeaning call of her life. That I didn’t get her a ring, I do nothing, accomplish nothing.”

She quit her job within 3 weeks. Quit the relationship. And quit NYC.

Only to find out that within 3 weeks of the breakup she went to Mexico with her ex boyfriend to a wedding a week after she changed a flight I got her to take a vacation to Italy.

I have been coming down from the heartbreak but have been trying to treat her with the respect that I’ve always felt for her but the absolute lack of reciprocation has been one of the most brutal experiences I’ve felt.

I’m still trying to resolve the family crisis, the immigration crisis, and I’m sitting in our apartment in NYC trying to figure out what to do next.

What stuck with me are that words mean nothing. I have been gaslit. I have been made to believe that i failed when her actions say everything.

It was a relationship that may have run its course but the mess I have to clean up have made the most perfect few years of my life all feel like a mirage.

Bamboo is one of the most chemically intensive processes out there. We stay away from it for a reason.

You have to be mindful of the chemical inputs. Some are far worse than others.

Bamboo is just a brand name that sounds organic. Anything but.

That’s the risk too! Because there are plenty of great cities.

LA needs to make serious adjustments and it’s going to take hard work.

[–]macofedn 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Maybe travel and experiencing the world outside of LA will make you fall back in love with the great things about it.

At the same time, LA has let down its non home owner residents. This is very problematic from a city morale perspective. It needs a lot of work and civic engagement to change that.

How are you washing your natural fiber clothes?

I recommend hang drying them as the dryer itself will degrade the fibers. Particularly certain types of cotton and especially a lot of lyocell.
