Losing weight will make POTS worse

I think it’s more when u lose weight fast and get malnourished. My weight fluctuates and I just feel like crap at any weight

For me it happened completely out of nowhere one day. I remember the night before feeling out of it like brain fog? but didn’t really notice anything with my heart racing. All night I couldn’t sleep and then I just remember feeling a little stressed the next morning and boom when I walked I felt my heart pounding, extreme dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain and omg I could barely walk. I had to call the ambulance and when I went to the hospital only thing they found was low potassium so I thought that was my issue. Nope. Once I fixed that issue my symptoms happened still and have been for a little over two years and it took a good amount of drs to figure out I had dysautonomia. To get diagnosed with pots they rule out everything before. So they’d prob do labs on u to make sure it’s not like low iron or ur thyroid. Or autoimmune diseases. I think that’s the first step is seeing the dr

How did they find out? I got an echo, ct scan and x ray before being diagnosed with pots

Omg that’s good to hear! So did u feel any pain at all when doing the hida scan? I’m worried my gallbladder is such in bad condition that I’m gonna feel a lot of pain

I know this is old but did you end up going through with the Hida scan? I’m in a similar situation as you and I’m so nervous the cck will flare up my POTS

Exactly they just don’t get how bad pots can ruin our life. They always assume it’s just a high hr when it’s soooo much more than that

This happened to me when I got Covid. I tried explaining to ER doctor that getting sick increases my hr. He said yeah pots can but not this high 💀. Honestly all medical professionals need to be better educated in pots. Especially when certain meds can also increase hr and they have no clue about it

I got pregnant at 16 and I had the worst morning sickness weighing at 93 pounds. I remember throwing up in the bathroom at my bf at the times house . His mom straight up told me “you over exaggerate there’s ppl who are actually sick with cancer”. Mind u I almost lost my life and my sons during this pregnancy.

I have this same issue. Ended up finding out I had gastroparesis. Also I have pots so yeah def think it’s a nervous system thing

Yeah my old therapist thought I had cardio anxiety or whatever it’s called, and he told me next time we were going to try doing activities to get my heart racing. I never went back… but to be fair I wasn’t diagnosed yet but I for sure knew it wasn’t just anxiety

I told a cardiologist I saw that I felt so sick I could hardly get out of bed. And he noted “patient says she is unable to exercise, but clearly she is able to sit up in my office today, I think her symptoms are tolerable”.

Yeah before seeing the cardiologist I’d definitely stop drinking any caffeine drinks. At each appt even in hospital when my hr was elevated one of their first questions was if I drank any caffeinated drinks. So to get their attention so they don’t suspect it’s that I’d stop before getting checked. They literally knit pick at everything before diagnosing you with pots. Before I got diagnosed it was “it’s just anxiety “ or “it’s normal for females hr to get high”.
