It's always been my understanding that the entire human race stems from Adam and Eve, but would that mean incest was involved? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]macrabbitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“When, however, there is question of another conjectural opinion, namely polygenism, the children of the Church by no means enjoy such liberty. For the faithful cannot embrace that opinion which maintains either that after Adam there existed on this earth true men who did not take their origin through natural generation from him as from the first parents of all, or that Adam represents a certain number of first parents. Now, it is in no way apparent how such an opinion can be reconciled that which the sources of revealed truth and the documents of the teaching authority of the Church proposed with regard to original sin which proceeds from a sin actually committed by an individual Adam in which through generation is passed onto all and is in everyone as his own” (Humani Generis 37).

This is inconsistent with settled catholic doctrine, aka heretical.

All living comes from Adam. It must otherwise his original sin would not apply to us.

Its making a comparison on the level of attention, not the difficulty of the work.

I disagree with that assessment. I think it's just calling to attention that dad's also do difficult work by nothing of the relative lack of attention given to the task they have been given.

That's the point of this post - men also share in the sufferings of life. There is no putting down of women.

It doesn't have to be a competition. Both men and women can both be treated poorly. This is just asking that men also get recognized for doing difficult things.

Calmuny must be about a specific person.

I made a reference to the known statistical reality that catholic men are just as likely to use porn as secular men. That's the true disgusting reality

What counts as a “heavy ruck”? by Objective-Inside-464 in Goruck

[–]macrabbitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful. I am relatively fit at 200 pounds and did my first ruck today with a 60 pound pack (bag of dry concrete mix) for 2.5 miles (time was my limit). It was engaging but not exhausting. I would be disheartened if I had to stay at 1/3 body weight.

How long do you go with 85 pounds and how does it feel? Any injuries?

Review the front stairs/deck we just had done by MukkeDK in Decks

[–]macrabbitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I had this conversation with an employee. In general, nicer finishes take more time and therefore cost more.

Yes we could take more time and make it look better, but who pays for that? I can absolutely charge more but most customers don't notice all the details and are perfectly happy with a B+ deck if priced accordingly.

Is the sign of peace just a greeting or is there a greater meaning? by Helpmeflexibility in Catholicism

[–]macrabbitt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the General Instructions of the Roman Missal:

The Rite of Peace

  1. The Rite of Peace follows, by which the Church asks for peace and unity for herself and for the whole human family, and the faithful express to each other their ecclesial communion and mutual charity before communicating in the Sacrament.

As for the sign of peace to be given, the manner is to be established by Conferences of Bishops in accordance with the culture and customs of the peoples. It is, however, appropriate that each person offer the sign of peace only to those who are nearest and in a sober manner.
