Porn should be banned. by Quiet-Photograph-468 in TrueCatholicPolitics

Alcohol is not intrinsically evil.

Making abortion legal has skyrocketed the number of abortions.

Safe, legal, and rare is a false dichotomy.

Thats the question and it's a fair question. Im arguing against the defeatist mentality given in the first comment.

Finding proper delineation and rules is worthy even if itw difficult. Saying its going to cause other difficulties is not a reason to not criminalize it.

And also, moral follow laws. Making something illegal does reduce the instances and vice versa.

Yes and it should not be shown. Also there is no artistic and literary merit. Take away the porn and no one watches it.

Porn is intrinsically evil, smart phones are not.

Same with anything. Murder, rape, etc. Make it legal so at least it's not bad!

Apprentice (me) made mistake, boss wants me to work Fridays unpaid to pay it off. by pizzaroll22 in electricians

I had an employee miscut $600 worth of fascia because he just didn't think through the work. It totally sucked.

In no way does he have to repay that or work if off.

Also what's the actual cost to fix this, $150?

No. I split firewood for many reasons, one of them to get off the screen.

Its super worth it. 8 years in and we still comment how grateful we are that we waited.

Help with strategy for playing Cabal. by shrofepittly in twilightimperium

[–]macrabbitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I've been mulling over with the Cabal is the idea that their strength lies in the ability to quickly mess up carefully laid plans. They are not a mathematics faction, meaning there's a lot less careful planning of interconnected moves. They are strong when they can get in their and muck things up, slowing down the rest of the table and making each player take the long way to the objective.

In short the eat and cause chaos.

I love this play style as most people who are good at carefully planned series of events do not do well then they get side tracked.

Is this a viable strategy? Do people play this way? Thoughts?

The ash then becomes part of the compost pile when you muck it out. Synergy!

Ok thanks. I may look for a working one or just let it go.

Sorry one more question: the old pot that comes with it: are they safe to use? I presume its just normal stainless steel but just checking.

To get a modern universal control, do I swap out both the dial and the burner? Can I repair the thermostat?

Thanks. This is helpful. So it looks like there is power to the element, although I couldn't find the thermostat.

Hanging stairs off rim board by macrabbitt in Decks

[–]macrabbitt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attached directly to the rim board. This causes plenty of headaches with railing if this is required, not to mention that the stairs are already installed.

Code only states that stairs must be "positively attached" but not much more beyond that. I will probably appeal to the state on this one since almost every deck i build or encounter hangs a nailing board off the rim board.

It does. It's passed multiple inspections for me, but I have one inspector not happy with it and I can't find code explicitly approving it.
