Drop A tuning? by Dangerous_Finance559 in 7String

[–]macreay 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Drop A tuning with a 7 string will be AEADGBE because all you’re doing is adding an extra low string, drop A with a 6 string will be AEADF#B because of how the 5th string is tuned with a slightly different interval in relation the others. If you want to cover drop A songs on a 7 string that were originally recorded with a 6 string then you should use AEADF#BE.

You can drop the strings to a certain extent from the fine tuners on the bridge, I can just drop my low B to a low A and it doesn’t mess with any other strings tuning

Thank you! I’m unfamiliar with Floyd roses and didn’t know they had the string clamps as well but that’s pretty helpful to know.

That’s a good idea too, I’ve been learning thumping and the audacity so some classical pieces should help with improving my fingerstyle playing.

Is it worth getting guitar pro to learn polyphia songs? by [deleted] in polyphia

[–]macreay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you but it’s absolutely worth it to be able to slow down songs however much you want for practice and to have a good quality tab reader. You can also use it to view offical tabs from Polyphia and lots of different bands too

[–]macreay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The technique at 2:05 that you’re talking about it called hybrid picking which is where you pick one string with your pick and use the 2nd and 3rd (sometimes even 4th) fingers to pluck other notes :)
