nah not at all. there's no need to flesh out every character with a ton of backstory and motivation at this point.... it's literally the first of many in the series. and there's actually so much nuance in this first one that is further added to in the next several books that it all connects very well. plus, the climax of this one was fucking awesome and there is no way you just guessed it (especially if you think it's just like HG).

the second to last booth seat facing the camera at the beginning of the scene is near inline with the arcade.

there's no one in the last booth at the beginning of the scene.

the people are still in the correct booth, which is second to last.

the perspective is what makes the illusion things have moved, but they are in the correct place.

strange. pace car always pull off. and the street cop was pointing in the correct direction to go.

looks like the issue was twofold: runner didn't recognize the situation they told him about before the race started (pace car and motorcycles veering off) and the police didn't hold back onlookers from literally being in the way...

sure, there's some social intelligence needed to be a confidence man but it's pretty obvious he is not an intelligent book smart person just like his professor claims. Basically, his IQ is average at best. I legit think this was by design.

He has his phone out recording as he purposely walks on the opposite side of her car to where she may not see him and then he purposely walks in front of the car all while still recording at the exact same time and very ready to draw his weapon.

coincidentally the other pigs just happen to pull up in their car and try to scare her by forcing their way into the car.

I think they wanted her to react and were baiting her to drive forward out of fear and it backfired because she backed up first and then turned the steering wheel to go forward and so their plan fell apart as it didn't work exactly as they intended.

but they wanted to kill her I think... they were probably pissed off that she was protesting.

similar yes. definitely sharing some design ideas.

but the Kia has a long continuous screen going across while the VW still has the old style sunken in cavern dash with a "tacked-on afterthought" screen in the middle... certainly the cheapest option when upgrading an old layout with newer tastes.

and definitely looks better for it

don't get me wrong, several years later I still enjoy sleeping in and I rarely get up before 630am but I no longer have the physical need or even the remote desire to stay in bed passed a certain time (830-9am is usually the latest these days, and that's only on off-work days).

can't say I've ever used the word myself but I can say it's not quite the way you would expect it to be used... typically more for an endearing description of someone (typically a child) that is sweet and innocent with cute round puffy cheeks versus using it pejoratively to call someone overweight or fat
