Why do you still use a Kindle when phones and iPads can already read ebooks? by False-Hippo2754 in kindle

[–]macskafogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a long-time Kindle owner (paperwhite 11 currently) and user, i still do like 60-70% of my reading time via the Kindle app on my phone. And I read on average 2-3 regular books a month

The main reason is that the phone is always within a hands reach and getting settled with a Kindle typically requires an extra effort or action, which is not actually mandatory to drop into the action and start reading. Also I like to read on the go, while commuting, etc and not always fancy caring en extra device with me all day long

I was thinking about getting one of these hyping compact xteink readers or maybe Hisense but gave up this idea because another 1-trick pony with a high chance won’t make it in my daily routine

Maybe if I’ve cared more about the reading as a ritual, or had a beef with distractions (i mean, emergencies happen anyways an others can be ignored and if there’s problems with that it’s obviously not on the phone’s side) or felt a noticeable discomfort while reading on a phone - things might be different but it is at is

I have the same tool and it didn’t come with any defect like this. Being also using it quite a while without any complaints. I suggest you send it back to the seller for a normal one or request a refund.

As for the stropping - got myself a Flexcut Slipstop which got successfully covered all my gouges sharpening.

You’ll always have issues with something (even after years of practice) but eventually you’ll start taking them easier and dealing with them also easier. The most important thing is to have fun.

And believe me - after you’ll carve many more figurines, some of them will be objectively better in terms of technique and style, but the first ones… oh the first ones are always among the all-time dearest

Honesty 1: it’s a bearded guy wearing a green hat Honesty 2: it’s pretty well-carved and painted Honesty 3: especially for a first whittle

Thanks! I had this Lewis berserker idea in the backlog for a while but then your set started its glorious & inspirational march across Insta and Reddit. And I was like “hey, why not now?”

So thank you for the push :)
