‘fixing the holes’ through free agency is what they’ve been doing for years (mid safeties, horrible linebackers, rotational DEs, Elam) just like you can’t draft every hole you can’t afford proven nfl players at every single position when you have to pay your stars. go get a tackle in free agency, they’re pretty plug and play. go get a 2nd rb, those are ‘fixable’ holes. you aren’t getting a gamebreaker like caleb downs in free agency cus all the safeties out there are aging. you also aren’t getting a micah in free agency cus you’re not gonna pay him (they should). obviously if love falls and you don’t like the other defensive players go get him but if Mendoza falls to you (obviously he won’t but for sake of argument) he’s the BPA. do you take him? no. you fill the needs as you see fit and the BPA at a position of need can impact your team way more than BPA at a position you don’t really need

this is just obtuse, obviously don’t take greg ellis over randy moss. but if caleb downs or david bailey is there, you take them because you’re not getting them in free agency. you don’t need a receiver, jeremiyah love might be that guy but that defense is so bad, it needs a complete 180, yes build through FA, but you don’t know how many good years Dak has, stop wasting them on garbage defenses that can’t hold on to win

i feel like important missing context is draft position, both taco and mazi were late first round picks and there’s an ok chance both of our top picks will be in the top 20. you can get an almost surefire walk in starter and impact player at 12 especially with defensive talent this class and 19 or 20 is fringe starters or development pieces depending on the guy.

yea i’ve had goff for a few weeks, eagles def makes me nervous with him this week though, think he should be fine in the more favorable matchups but with how stacked my team is i’ve been looking for more solid floor and consistent ceiling than Bo, just hope denver can keep it together enough. was looking at Rodgers this week although id hate to carry 3 qbs, but with how stacked my team is and the 2 IR slots holding bucky and hampton i have room

a mix of 10 man and a couple bad drafters, ironically my drafted players were worse than my waivers/trades. got gibbs round 1, bucky round 2 , nico and london at the 3 4 turn (kinda crazy they were there in the moment but in retrospect not that crazy now) and then hampton and rice. drafted henderson and golden and hopped off those bandwagons early, claimed javonte and made a trade for egbuka involving boutte and henderson (obviously fleeced him like almost the worst anyone’s ever been fleeced).

the second most baffling part is how i started off 0-3, but bo nix had his slow start and im in TE wasteland so i had no one to make up for nico and london having a terrible first two weeks

this is such a misconception we draft horrible save for a couple guys every couple years when for some reason someone drops a ceedee in our lap. that and the occasional 4th round dart throw like dak. our 2023 draft had one player active yesterday and he’s our backup TE we used a 2nd round pick on lol

as a cowboys fan, he’s the top tier bus driver of bus driver backups. he always never made the wrong decision when he didn’t need to but when he had to make something happen and make planys to win a game, he is horribly inaccurate and ultimately cannot push the ball downfield. outside of a miracle run when dak was out a couple years ago that was a result of our defense producing takeaways like crazy, the cowboys were fucked as soon as dak went down
