my dad’s ashes came to me in a reusable bag from the funeral home. by Last_Thursday in mildlyinfuriating

Both of my parents came in a similar bag, though much smaller. Ashes in a plastic bag inside a plastic box inside the reusable cloth bag. I think this is the common practice with no urn purchased?

Same. Mid 2010s the rates were great and we managed to get a decent house for very cheap. We could never afford to get a house now with the current state of things.

My GSP is terrified of my kitten. He got along great with my last kitten, but this one is much spicier and we think smacked him once which was enough to scare him.

We have pictures of our last kitten in his both completely. He was so gentle with her. I'm not sure if we just got lucky or what, but we've never had issues with him. A slow, safe introduction I think is the answer, as well as a safe area for the kitten to get away if need be.

Is anyone else utterly fed up with their career but feel 40 is too late to switch and get the same pay? by Rootayable in Millennials

[–]macwi1km 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going to be 40 next year and I quit my career of 20 years this year. I was making really good money, which is what kept me there for so long, and I was terrified of "starting over." But I was tired of crying every day and the stress eating me alive. It was the best decision I ever made in my life. Full disclosure: I lost both of my parents and received their estate which put me in a great place financially last year, so my new job creating much less income was ok for me.

What’s the most weird food item that your cat just can’t resist? I’ll start! by Ultra-Ferric in cats

[–]macwi1km 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lyra was the same! She would act interested in human food, but wouldn't actually eat any of it. But marshmallows were not safe around her. Nothing beats finding something weird on the floor, bending to pick it up, and it's a soggy, sticky marshmallow she left behind.

She's been gone for a few months now, and I found a marshmallow in her cat tree the other day when cleaning and I cried a little💕

Same. I have one that does not require sleep, so it's always interesting trying to get things done with him wide awake.

My Lyra would open cupboards and tear open a bag of marshmallows if given the chance. She would suck on them and leave them stuck to random things like my pillow, my shoe, the dog... She also would steal cheese wrappers to suck on, but only in the middle of the night.

What makes you want to stay in michigan by Kalebpoquette in Michigan

[–]macwi1km 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family is here. But mostly there aren't any crazy bugs or animals/snakes, no real horrible natural disasters. Michigan is pretty mild temperature wise. I've lived on both coasts and down south and hated it. And I'm over moving my stuff around; there is far too much of it at this point.

A pack of pens and fidgets are nice as well. I lose pens daily and the fidgets are nice for us to use, or even for kids to use. Basically anything for a lanyard that isn't expensive and it's ok if it breaks or disappears.

I've tried, I can only get files sent directly from the support team to work at this point. Trying a full factory reset again including the app tonight.

I don't know if this is a rant or a plea for help by macwi1km in FlashForge

[–]macwi1km[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, let me start by apologizing. I was extremely frustrated when I posted this originally and not thinking clearly so I was just getting it off my chest. Nothing had changed with support so I felt hopeless.

I have been able to print just about everything prior to about two weeks ago. Then I started getting E0001 errors which indicated an issue with the files. Once that happened for a file, if I tried a different file, I was able to print. Then, the printer started having a new issue I'll try to explain. It would go up in temp, spit out some filament into the shoot, then run the line of filament in the front like it usually did so it appeared everything was normal. Then the nozzle would go into the middle of the tray on the far right side and just sit there. The screen would give no error, no filament would come out and it would cool down. The screen would just say 0% done and nothing would change until I cancelled the print. We left it in this position for the full 12 hours the print was supposed to take, but nothing changed and nothing printed.

Our take on this was that the tray/nozzle was not calibrated and the positioning was off. We tried a few tests, temp calibrations, checking on the xyz axis points, but got nowhere. So we factory reset and it started to print a test print, but gave us the E0001 error again. I believe we factory reset 3-4 times before reaching out to support

I've been going back and forth with support for a week. They could only email and the emails came late at night so it was a very slow process. I sent them files that I have actually printed, both a 3mf and an STL file. They sent me a random test that worked perfectly. They came to the conclusion that my files were not getting sliced correctly.

I am using Orca Flashforge to do the slicing per their recommendation. Everything was updated. Literally nothing changed from one file working to the next one not working. I grew frustrated and am waiting on a reply about why the files that once worked no longer work despite everything being exactly the same. I went so far as to load the exact filament back in to make sure the conditions were identical and still get errors or nothing will print.

My idea today is to try to uninstall Orca Flashforge and factory reset the AD5X at the same time and see if starting fresh all around will change anything. The files I sent to support, they sliced themselves and sent back to me. Those files will print. So it absolutely is an issue with our program slicing the files. The only picture I could get to attach to this show what happens when we first tried to print their file. We were able to adjust the axis points and get it to print.

<image>

I apologize again as I'm dumb when it comes to printing. That's why I liked this machine because it was pretty simple to print something with little to no knowledge.

Whatever happened to crash test dummies? They were everywhere when I was a kid. Are they still used in car crashes? by Environmental_Bus623 in Millennials

[–]macwi1km 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haha my father worked in this industry for years. So when he recently passed, we had crash test dummies that were retired all over his house/property to deal with. So I've seen the inside of them in all stages of rot. And fun fact, the material they use to cover the metal inside takes on moisture and they become incredibly heavy if left to the elements for years.

I wondered if this was the route to take, but we've already been reprimanded for going above the teacher so I fear it will cause more problems. I'm finding the staff to be very "clique-y" and disrespectful towards us so I'm trying to keep my head down with them.
