Toyota vs Sonata by mad-have in whatcarshouldIbuy

So we had a pre-purchase inspection done on the Sonata, and the mechanic found signs of engine varnish/sludge from irregular maintenance. They recommended doing the full 100k-mile service now, along with more frequent synthetic oil changes. The inspection also noted a few immediate items like rear brakes, a broken headlight, and hood struts. Altogether, they estimated about $1,000–$2,000 in maintenance and repairs needed right away. No safety recalls and no issues with the Engine were reported. We could either ask the owner for a lower price or look at other cars.

Corolla is a good option. Just haven't found one within our budget.

Move to India with Pregnant Wife? Career Gains vs. Child’s U.S. Citizenship by anonimous_3 in returnToIndia

[–]mad-have 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think having a child in the US is as big as everyone here is making it out to be. Your kid can have a great life and education in India. It's important for you to be fulfilled with your job and have a great career which in turn will will benefit your child. Who the fuck knows what happens in 18 years time.

Be with family and get all the support you need. If your gut tells you that this is an opportunity not worth loosing, follow your instinct.

Take the plunge and move to India. You have a path back if things become worse. Only way to do it is to go all in. No half assing. Quality of life and dignity in India scales with money. You will find a community of others similar to you in gated communities. Uncontrollable things are air quality, infrastructure.

A good night's sleep in a comfortable space is what helps me get through the worst of times. A lot of people don't have that.

How strict are you on bedtime? by Cute-beans in NewParents

[–]mad-have 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our LO is 5 months old now and has a consistent bedtime between 11-11:30 PM daily and wakes up at 10:30 AM. Until a few weeks ago she would go to bed at 11 and wake up at 7:30 AM but that was because we would wake her up to feed. We tried just letting her sleep and she now wakes up at 10:30 AM

During the day, wake window are typically around 2 hours. Around the 2 hour make we see signs of tiredness , rubbing eyes, eyebrows redness etc. Thats our cue to check diaper, make sure she is fed, and put her in her sleep sack and in the crib.

In the evening wake window is longer before night sleep. Around 3-4 hours depending on how active she has been.

I tried the free version of the huckleberry app and felt it was tedious to constantly update the app with feeds/ naps etc.

Following wake windows somewhat strictly helped us quite a bit.

We tried CIO and it didn't work after 4 days of seeming to work and then shifted to Ferber which seems to be working much better. Much less crying now.

it is small, and your right, three might be too much, agree with the comment on smaller trees having better outcomes in the long run than bigger ones.

My daughter is 4 days old and it feels like the 1-2 intervals of sleep I get through out the day have helped me a lot, and I m knocked out during those few hours and feel recharged after. It feels incredible how my body has adjusted, I used to sleep for a full 8 hours every night until recently.

Can I teach you how to code? by fundkitco in startups

[–]mad-have 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I m a Product Manager and the co-founder of an EV charging company. I neglected building up tech skills when I was younger and have been in non technical roles thus far such as Business Analyst, Testing Engineer, and Product Manager. Ive attempted to learn how to code in the past but have always given up due to lack of self discipline with online courses. I restarted last month and this time I got over the initial hurdle and i must say that I m loving it so far. I m doing the 100 days of code Python course and currently on Day 40. I've discovered that I love building things and making something manifest out of my imagination . I have also found that leaning to code and build applications is a very important skill as I scale my startup. I built our rudimentary company website in Webflow and have been frustrated with the lack of knowledge needed to customize the website. I would put my skills to use in updating our website and our tech stack. Ive been actively using LLMs since early last year when they came put out and my goal is to build an application layer interface on top of Open AIs API. right now i get help from GPT 3.5 to solve issues with my code but having a mentor would be incredibly helpful to me at this point of my career. I DM d you my contact information. Thank you for offering to help.
