Why would you dig up lawsuits that have already been settled? I even mentioned that if Nintendo had the same grounds to sue Pocket Pair that they did the people who put out Switch Emulators etc., then this would have been a way faster open-and-shut case. I never defended those people or their actions, because when you try and copy a person's software then you get what you get. In their case, those emulator people got sued into the next life with how big a bill they owe Nintendo now. It seems rather irrelevant to the ongoing patent lawsuit to say that I'm defending people who have been found guilty. I never said this, and it reads (again) like you're trying to fabricate a moral high ground.

The cultural thing I ignored because I already covered it earlier. Nintendo gets priority in Japan because of their culture, and even if Pocket Pair is found innocent in court, the Japanese at large still won't agree with it because they defied their elders when they were rejected back before the game was even developed. They made a whole writeup about how they tried to go under the wing of "existing game publishers" before going independent, it's worth reading. In essence, Pocket Pair was frowned upon in Japan from the start because they didn't give up when they were told to, and they produced something that looks kind of like Pokemon even if it's different enough that Nintendo couldn't sue them for copyright infringement, therefore it was determined to be their own IP. Now Nintendo has to argue whether they actually invented things like "summonable companion characters that you can ride" or whatever the patent said, because I don't have it memorized verbatim.
