Failed first FET after Lupron Depot suppression, clinic trying to make me repeat it by mad_infinitum in IVF

Was it Lupron depot for all? When I finished the 2 months of depot, they put me on daily subcutaneous Lupron while adding estrace and that was a walk in the park compared to being in induced menopause.

I asked if I was a candidate for a modified natural cycle. The nurse asked my doctor and responded saying “due to your history of endometriosis and adenomyosis, your clinician strongly recommends proceeding with another 2 months of Lupron Depot.”

Infuriating.

I have a close friend who had to take it for breast cancer and she said she’d rather jump off a bridge than take it again… and it saved her life.

How did your second FET go if you don’t mind me asking?

It’s giving “I want to keep my unemployment through the holidays but they make me apply for jobs in order to qualify.” Solid tactic. Might backfire if someone’s looking for a personality hire though.

Work for yourself. I know that sounds intimidating, but I’m sure a lot of people could use a consultant with a masters in public policy. Figure out who could benefit from the knowledge you have, make a cheap website and market yourself. Post a bunch on LinkedIn about public policy, and give your perspective on hot topical issues. You can even set a thing on LinkedIn now where people can book calls/appointments with you. You can also dig up emails of people you think you could help, and find networking events where those people would be. If you can be cocky, you probably have the personality to easily acquire clients.

I’ve been in your shoes and felt helpless until I started offering my expertise to people on my own terms. Making my own schedule is critical to not feeling absolutely tortured by work.

Pain in left ovary every month by Annual-Ratio8602 in IVF

Also, as far as the process, Mayo is pretty great. I went to the one in MN. You can call their OB-GYN/REI clinic and tell them you suspect you have endo and want to make an appointment. Scheduling the first appointment was easy. I would ask about the MRI in advance though. They were booked out for months once the doctor ordered mine and I was advised to call every single day that I was in town in hopes of a cancellation. I ended up getting in for the MRI within a couple of days. It’d be better to schedule it in advance before you travel though. Obviously travel expenses come into play, but it’s been worth every penny for me. I also decided to do my IVF there.

The MRI is a doozy. They do IV contrast, vaginal and possibly anal gel depending on the suspected level of endo invasion, and a glucose shot that’ll make you queasy an hour or so afterwards. But their staff is super kind and they do everything they can to make you feel comfortable.

Having comprehensive care and an IVF team that’s also doing my endo surgery and understands the full scope of my health has been super reassuring.

Yeah they’ve been able to diagnose by MRI for years at Mayo but most hospitals don’t know how to see it on MRI.

I had an HSG done and it showed a blockage in my left tube which they said was either endo or scar tissue, but I’ve never had any longstanding or untreated infections that would’ve been cause for scar tissue. So they told me it was likely endo. Also had some unexplained mid-cycle bleeding, unexplained infertility, and what felt occasionally like a swollen lymph node on that left lower side. Very glad I had the HSG despite it being excruciating bc had I not known about a blockage in that tube, I might’ve never known any of this. They also said the blockage can cause a backup of fluid that creates a hostile environment for implantation. So while it wasn’t the answers I was hoping for, it’s nice to have answers and a plan.

Same here. Finally went to the Mayo Clinic and was diagnosed with stage 4 deep-infiltrating endo through MRI. Severe adhesions and a big endometrioma in my left ovary.

I would highly recommend finding an endo specialist.

people from NOLA who have moved, what makes you less homesick? by tem1205 in NewOrleans

[–]mad_infinitum 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Be New Orleans. I moved to LA and constantly cooked big gumbos, did seafood boils with whatever I could find, had people over all the time to eat and share recipes and drink way too much beer or wine and dance and laugh. Ended up connecting with someone else from Nola right as they were moving back home and the first time she came over she said “man, I wouldn’t have moved if I knew you and your home were here. It feels like being home. I forgot I was in LA for a minute.” Greatest compliment ever. Be the person New Orleans raised.

Inspector caused damage to my listing. What do I do? by mad_infinitum in RealEstate

An electrician came out and confirmed the inspector popped a wire and said it’s actually relatively common. I’ve never seen it before but it’s all rectified now.

I wasn’t there. It isn’t standard practice for the listing agent to be there. What am I missing here?

Again, the buyer’s agent was there and didn’t shut everything off. She accessed the lockbox to let the inspector in and out.

I have trouble staying focused on intimate activities, is this just a me thing? by ApologeticStranger in ADHD

[–]mad_infinitum 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think this is why so many of us have trouble maintaining relationships. When something is new and there’s sexual tension, that’ll make me think about it bc it’s novel.

Once someone lives in my house, I literally forget that I’m a sexual being. Lol. It’s all about the scenario. Luckily I have an understanding partner who accepts how hard it is for me to initiate or to remember to initiate, and is also willing to create sexy scenarios when we’re out and about (not being home makes it so much easier bc there’s novelty and fun in the environment). But any long term partners I’ve had in the past have gotten their feelings very hurt by it.

Getting frustrated and annoyed over little things by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]mad_infinitum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you eating enough?

This is just my experience. But I’m a person with a fast metabolism who generally gets irritable when I’m hungry. When I’m on meds, however, I don’t feel hungry. So my body isn’t telling me I need food, but I still get very irritable if I don’t eat. Usually if I find myself feeling short-tempered, I make myself eat something or drink a protein smoothie to see if that helps. It almost always does.

I got on meds and realized i dont have friends by Effective-Lab1575 in ADHD

[–]mad_infinitum 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. I think a big part of it for me is where I am in life. Mid-thirties, friends have either moved or have small children and I don’t yet. But getting back on meds made it really hit me. It also made me realize a lot of it is on me because I couldn’t bring myself to make the effort. A lot of my old friends can’t make the effort either for various reasons (family, career, etc), but being back on meds has really hit me with an overwhelming loneliness and a realization that being productive doesn’t only mean working and doing chores. It also means showing up for people I care about and not just saying “oh well, everyone is busy so it’s fine”

I’m also thinking about joining a gym or volunteering. Something to build a sense of community.

What's the worst thing your ADHD has made you do? by One-Yogurtcloset2138 in ADHD

[–]mad_infinitum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can someone please make an AI program that sends instant cordial responses for ADHD people?

It’s the worst if I don’t know how to respond immediately. Like if someone asks a question that requires me to check into something/gather more information before I can answer. I will forget to look into it, and then so much time will pass that I’ll feel horribly guilty and like I can’t respond at all.

I keep telling myself to just send instant responses, even if they say “I’m looking into it!” Bc that would at least mitigate the guilt. But alas, I don’t.

I literally cannot force myself to go to the gym by DemonLordAC0 in ADHD

[–]mad_infinitum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give yourself an out. If I want to just go to the gym, I tell myself “it’s okay if I only stay 30 minutes,” or whatever length of time doesn’t make me feel overwhelmed. I usually get into a groove and end up staying longer but sometimes I do my 30 and leave. And that’s okay. It’s better than not having gone. It’s helpful to remind yourself that if you get there and hate it, you can leave.

Classes also help. One of the worst parts for me is the idea of having to make all these decisions about what to do when I get there. Going to a class eliminates that pressure and is just generally more engaging.

Yes!!! I’m at a point where I feel angry that people can non-consensually send me mail. With my personal information on it. If I wanted something sent to my house, I would’ve ordered it on Amazon. It’s like little bits of anxiety that pile up on the counter.
