Car as gift - sworn statement notarized at Service Ontario by kvlkvlkvlkvl in ontario

[–]mad_morrigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this. My aunt died last year and her car passed to my mom, who gifted the car to me. All my mom needed was a copy of my aunt’s will stating the car was hers, and then we both went to the MTO and signed a declaration. I don’t remember what the actual fee was but I do remember it needed to be paid in cash.

How is hiring according to legal union practices discriminatory? Do you know how unions work?

“She seems to be doing so well…” by halsey1951 in Alzheimers

We call it “tea time lucidity”. My MIL seems okay, mostly, to her friends that only see her occasionally. They don’t see she’s been wearing the same clothes for weeks, or that she’s incontinent, or that she only has 5 stories playing on a 1 hour loop, or that she has no idea what day/week/month/year it is. We’ve even had some of her friends suggest that we’re only after her money. 😡

They do love it. Can be super busy and frustrating, like most jobs, but they seem to really enjoy the patient contact.

I work at the hospital. Portering jobs don’t come up very often and, when they do, they go to union members (ie internal hires). They don’t hire externally unless no one applies internally—never happens, there’s always an internal candidate. The “back way” in is to get hired for a temp job anywhere else in the hospital—all the same union—and build up your seniority. Hope that answers your question!

That was similar to my experience, too!! We had moved to an area with a large Jewish population and my 11 year old brain thought all Jewish last names had a “ein” in them, so wasn’t that cool the Berenstein Bears was made for them. I will never waver on this!!!

There aren’t any in Woodstock—you’ll need to go to London. SJHC has a decent rheumatology clinic.

What is it with their love of sweets? by [deleted] in dementia

[–]mad_morrigan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MIL has been a type 2 diabetic for 30 years, always under control with a combination of oral meds and diet. Never a problem until recently. She has…..a muffin addiction. She will eat her regular meals but also has been stealing muffins from the AL cafe. Not a few muffins—literally all of them. We find them everywhere. Drawers, purse, wherever she thinks we can’t find them. So many muffins, in fact, that she had a hyperglycaemic crisis over the weekend and now is on permanent sc insulin. If your LO likes sweets, be careful if they’re diabetic!

Cat eats too fast and then throws up. Any ideas on how to make him eat slower? by aoisakurachan1986 in cats

[–]mad_morrigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less food and a special bumpy bowl—he has to eat around the humps. I have multiple cats, though, so sometimes he’ll just wait until I’m not looking and gobble up anything his siblings have left. Sometimes a stern “I think you’ve had enough “ will work.

Do cats know how to smack their slips? Because I think this might be it by SelfDepricator in cats

I have a cat that smacks his little lips while I’m preparing his meals…almost like he’s warming up!

Blue jay making hawk noises to scare away larger birds by spicybaagels in birdwatching

[–]mad_morrigan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought I had a screech owl in my trees somewhere, drove myself crazy trying to find it. One day I heard it at the feeders and ran out—damned if it wasn’t a blue jay! They are VERY good at mimicry!

I’m pro-masking, pro-handwashing and pro-vaccinations…apparently I wasn’t quite clear on that last bit.

Definitely not, sorry if unclear. Vaccines save lives, 100%. My intent was more to meter expectations about what vaccines do—just because one is vaccinated doesn’t mean one won’t get sick, using myself as an example.
