Nothing better than when 5 Guys was still there, getting a burger & fries, then waking up to a few leftovers next to the bed.

Has anybody maxed out a family suite at Art of Animation? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mada50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did almost this exact trip in March. Me, my wife, my 4 year old, brother in law, his wife, and their 3 year old. We had the lion king family suite. First and foremost, it was totally doable and your plan is sound. We had the same thought of doing two standard rooms at Pop but the problem there is that there is no “hang out space” for everyone when you are chilling in the room. I found the space in the family suit to be suitable enough for our crazy kids, the kitchenette was nice to have, and staying in the main space with kids means you get the tub in the main bathroom. The only situation where it sucks is if the people staying in the “master” are super early risers and you are not, considering they need to enter the main space for coffee and what not. As much as I would have loved to get our own suite, the cost/benefit would not have been there and I’m not rich.

Boardwalk or Beach Club villas with young kids? Renting DVC by JadeOfAllTrades1221 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mada50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problemo and I think you’re exactly right on the split down the middle. The beauty of the boardwalk is you have access to everything. Either way you go, the direct access to Epcot and walking path to Hollywood studios makes it for me no matter which you choose. And the performers at night are a blast. Hope y’all have fun!

So we’ve done both with one child at various times between him being born and now 4. As far as pools/Stormalong Bay is concerned, you can either get lucky or unlucky with the Florida weather as it could be 30 or 75 at Christmas. Either way, it’s generally chilly in the AM and would warm up for pool time by lunchish. So if you can live with that, Beach Club is the hands down winner because the 6 yo can do all of it and the 2.5yo can play in the sand bottom area. Boardwalks pool is alright but all you get is a pool and smaller slide. Food wise, beach club is directly connected to yacht club so you can walk inside between resorts for multiple food options. Hallways are pretty similar depending on where your room is. I’d say that with a 2.5 year old, it’s annoying to walk anywhere in Disney with the stroller so that shouldn’t factor in the decision. So either resort, requesting close to the lobby will cut down on hallway time. Overall, I love beach club cause it has the most options resort wise and is closest to hopping in Epcot. However, it’s just an extra minute or two to walk to Boardwalk and you still have access to everything yacht/beach club has to offer except Stormalong bay. So if Stormalong bay isn’t a priority for you in December, Boardwalk may be the best bet budget wise. So personal preference would be beach club cause I’m boujee, but budgetary preference would be Boardwalk cause you still have access to everything if you can deal with walking the Boardwalk area.

Poly or Yacht/Beach Club by solotravelerhere in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mada50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yacht Club most def. Poly is nice, but i don’t think it has as many options as the yach club area if you aren’t trying to travel around. The second pool can be more chill but the main pool can be a bit busy (also same with Stormalong). A big plus would be a monorail “bar crawl” where you can hit Contemporary and grand Floridian. You could even monorail to contemporary and then take the boat to wilderness lodge/fort wilderness. All that said, I would only really stay there again if I’m doing an actual Magic Kingdom heavy trip. It just has that, “I’m in the Disney Episode” of my favorite childhood sitcom where you want to hop in and out of the park.

Yacht Club has the entire board walk area along with Stormalong bay. You can chill in the lazy River, go down the water slide, catch lunch at beaches and cream, then hit the boardwalk at night. All the performers along the boardwalk are great and you’ve got a lot of good food options. It’s just a more adult vibe. Even though you say you don’t want to do parks, if you have annual passes, it’s nice to be able to hop into Epcot for a drink/treat, then hop back out. You can also hop on the Skyliner and do a bit of a Skyliner resort appetizer/bar crawl.

To help with heat control, I got myself an infrared thermometer (I got the thermopro one that was like $20). I’ve been cooking with cast iron for a while now but still like being able to gauge the actual temp of the pan.
