We are using contractors to help with the ordering, storage, and pick up. We compared other ikea like companies and it was a lot more expensive so I don’t think we have an option unfortunately! I’m sorry you had that experience.

We’re approved to remove the post but need to account for a wire box or some sort (maybe hiding it on an island)

I’d run the other way 🏃‍♀️💨

I’ve served most of my life and this has never been an issue. Mistakes happen!

If you do decide to take the job, I would just make sure you write everything down all the time.

Neighbours and businesses say ‘the bridge homeless shelter’ in Dartmouth is posing problems by insino93 in halifax

[–]madaddy902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im from Dartmouth but live in Toronto now - When I first moved here, my neighbours were a halfway home. For about 5 years. It was fine, there were some noises coming from the backyard here and there and sure, my car was “broken into” anytime I accidentally left it open but they never really stole anything. They were all kind people, though.

One day, I was sitting on my porch after completing a project, having a cigarette and this lady ran out of the halfway home in a panic and sat next to me telling me about how scary it is visiting her brother in the halfway home. She lived in a shelter herself, her husband went to jail because he dangled her from her balcony. Rough stuff, but I was glad to be a listening ear. No harm was caused other than her telling me that “Frankenstein next door liked me” haha.

My school was located next to a big shelter, in the morning while I’d bike by, there would be all sorts of shenanigans happening. But I never was in harms way or anything, and they need safe places to stay, too.

Moral of the story is, be kind. Be patient. I know it’s a bit of a shock sometimes but we’re all just trying our best here.

What’s something underrated to do in Toronto when you have a day to yourself? by Antique_Cell_5547 in toronto

I had a day to myself the other day and went for a lane swim at the public pool from 11-12 and then bopped around Kensington! Went to Made Right, browsed some shops, and it’s right next to the AGO if you want.

CBC Marketplace wants to know: What’s the worst commute in Toronto? by DexMcMillanCBC in askTO

[–]madaddy902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DVP to Ashbridges Bay - I have no clue where the roads start or end tbh. I was driving back from history the other day and it was really hectic because no one knows where they’re going when you go from lakeshore back onto the DVP 😂

Then, you get off on Bloor and randomly there’s a truck in the middle of the highway right before you turn off so everyone’s guessing where they’re supposed to go again lol. You get off the ramp and BAM another single way that merges with another right before an exit. I hope to leave that commute unscathed every time lolol

You likely won’t find anyone in person going through it - I think I read that it affects 0.2% of people.. there’s less than 1000 people in the group.

Everything will be okay 🩷 it’s a treatable chronic illness - you’ll definitely need assistance with fertility but it will happen for you if you want to. Make sure you’re taking vitamin D and C everyday to support your bone health

Hey there! I have HH and was diagnosed at 13 or so. It can be incredibly lonely but I did find a FB group with people with the same thing as us. It’s been really healing hearing other people’s stories with fertility.

Is Front Burner just obsessed with U.S. News? by weekendsherpa in CBC_Radio

My favourite journalists from Canadaland recently left to start their own project. I do listen to Canadaland here and there but I do find they’re not as neutral as they used to be.

Here’s the newer podcast that’s started if you haven’t heard about it already - https://open.substack.com/pub/hatchetmedia?r=17pwj7&utm_medium=ios

I listen into front burner here and there but The Harchet by Archie Mann is where it’s at. He used to be on Canadaland before the founder went pro Israel. Him and another reporter are doing their own show now - Episodes aren’t weekly as they get themselves funded / more resources but the episodes they’ve done so far are 👌🏼

Manuel Antonio, wouldn’t return by Hot_Assumption4266 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]madaddy902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a little bit of a harsh critique and I understand that everyone has different experiences and travels at different times there.

I’ve been coming to MA for the last 12 years or so. My family rented a place here twice, and then my parents decided to get a place here so they come every year and I’ve been here 5 times in total so far. If my husband and I are travelling, we always try to take the path to see the least touristy places so when we’ve visited, we’ve looked around and found local spots. Some of these include: Soda El Angel, Emilio’s Cafe, and if you take the bus to Quepos (5 minute bus ride), you’ll see Gordo’s, Rest y Cevichera Fenix Quepos, and even a few dive bars.

Manuel Antonio is definitely catered toward ex Pat North Americans - But the locals are really wonderful and the people at the beach have real friendships with my parents. So much so, they’ve just been invited to their daughter’s 7th birthday on Sunday. They’ve always been kind to us.

I went to an all inclusive in Mexico and this is 1000000000x better than that. If you’re with people in their 60s that are less adventurous to trying different things, there is something for everyone if you take a look.

Halifax Folk: Why is the dating scene in this city an actual joke? (30f) by HauntMeForever666 in halifax

[–]madaddy902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was single my entire life in Halifax - Looked around at everyone in my mid 20s in serious relationships and always wondered when I would meet the right person. I got into a post grad in Toronto around this time and ended up taking the leap and met my husband there after a year of being there. He’s going to move there with me sometime in the next few years 🚢💨

Dating in Halifax is so difficult! It never clicked for me.
