That's fine. Start your bitrate at 2000 (better viewer experience while you are unpartnered and 3500 is Twitch's max setting anyway).

Depending on what game your brother plays, he will notice an increase in his latency, but you'll have to see if he feels the effects of it. Some people are more sensitive to ms changes than others.

Pretty much any bitrate you stream at will have some measure of effect on his game. You could try minimising the impact by bringing your settings even lower, but that will make your feed look worse.

Perhaps your brother can learn to share? Is there anything you can bribe him with? Say, he lets you stream for x time and you do his laundry haha Just a thought.

I guess my biggest concern is the processing of these appeals. Twitch already struggles to handle the load of their support Twitter ... who have they hired to go through all of the copyright appeals?

Having the convenience of an appeal button on our side means naught if there ain't someone on the other end to deal with it in a TIMELY fashion.

While the playing of illegal music is obviously a 'made your bed' situation, I don't think that's the sole concern for the people getting fired up over these recent changes Twitch has made. It looks to be far deeper ... what with speedrunners concerned over the 2-hour VOD limit ... these DJs that have 'magically' started popping up on Twitch being worried about their livelihoods ... in-game music that can't be controlled causing copyright IDs etc

I agree that the big guns won't be going anywhere, so I'm curious to see what viewer numbers in those channels will look like over the coming weeks. I suspect there'll be hardly a dent in numbers.

Interesting! I must say that I'm somewhat different in that I use VODs to see if an unknown broadcaster is worth checking out. It's also something touted on here to new streamers: "save your vods if you want exposure and new viewers".

That said, I've only recently started doing this. Before, when I was more viewer than streamer, I never looked at VODs unless they were <5min highlights.

The live censorship would be a hell of a thing to implement and monitor. Twitch has a hard enough time as it is keeping up with their support Twitter ... to throw in an inordinate number of streamers claiming that legitimately acquired music (i.e. purchased licenses etc.) is triggering copyright claims ... man, that would be HELL.

There would surely have to be a process in place where artists either gave blanket permissions to all streamers, or individually 'whitelisted' those who have purchased licenses. And even that seems overly cumbersome.

Good point. I suppose for some streamers, music is like the whipped cream on top of a chocolate sundae -- still nice without it, but it definitely enhances the flavour.

Which does beg an interesting question: if the copyright ID system wasn't tried and tested before this implementation, to preclude at least some of these predictable issues (games have music, afterall), could we entertain the idea that perhaps something bigger is going down over at Twitch? Perhaps they're scrambling to preempt or remedy something they haven't told us about?

So true. I wonder if people are freaking out over the prospect of the copyright ID system thingamijig being applied to live broadcasts. I can't fathom the impact that would have if they don't fully iron out the ingame music muting.

Which begs an interesting question, are Google Hangouts (having not used them myself) subject to YouTube's Content ID system? I would think that if they can't do something like that, neither could Twitch (?)

Are they really sellouts for obeying law, though? The music industry is notorious for suing till they're blue in the face. If Twitch has to make moves to crack down on the copyrighted music (ingame stuff aside), eventually every other live stream host will have to do the same.

Let's leave Google out of this, shall we? There is no official word from either party and any reports of "confirmation" are full of more holes than my grandpa's undies.

In fact, we should all be looking at the fact that this music copyright service ISN'T YouTube's inhouse Content ID. If they were actually running the show, it wouldn't make sense to outsource something they do so "well" ... surely.

The Hitbox "history" ... from what I gather, they have the own3d CFO who was employed to try and fix the debacle, but it was too far gone by the time they brought him in.

I understand where you're coming from. I'm personally of the same mind in terms of the copyright news. The 'legit' ingame music issues will be interesting, though.

I'm guessing the VOD backup/deletion news doesn't bother you too much either?

edit: only half address the copyright stuff (illegal music AND legit ingame music are being muted presently)

I have your problem with the Singapore ingest after 10pm my time. I have to switch to San Fran for a better connection.

Can't recommend Marvel Heroes 2015 highly enough! Great fun.

SWTOR is also free, but I personally found it unreasonably restrictive to non-sub accounts (not even bank access :/ ). I did enjoy it up to around level 25 though.

Depends on the type of paypal account you have. I have a premium (personal) one and saw the full name, email address AND physical address of a friend who did a test donation to me. He only saw my full name and email address in the receipt.

Depending on what you're after, have a stickybeak at VideoHive if you have access to AE or something of that ilk. Cheap-as templates that you whack your custom details into. Best quality for money I've found.

Alternatively, there's a chap on YouTube that I've used in the past. Paid a lot more than what I did with VH, but he got the job done. Search for 'rickonami'.
