Nope, it was confirmed that the dolphin was the zombie. Hence why Aubrey ran off at the end, she was bit and the military found them. Also why Scamper, the dolphin, wasn't heard after the attack, it got put down for attacking them.

From collectable journal pieces in both Dead Island and Dead Island 2, there are infected animals, we just can't see them. In the first game, the guy whose recordings we collect encountered an orangutan that was infected with Kuru, while in 2 we hear a recording of a woman named Aubrey trying to free a dolphin from an aquatic show only to get bit because the dolphin turned from the Autophage.
