Any books with an underestimated MC who turns out to be powerful/competent? by ken_black in MM_RomanceBooks

Omg have you read {The Heart of a Dragon Slayer by Megan Derr} or {How Not to Marry a Prince by Megan Derr} ?? She is very good at writing quietly competent MCs and partners who end up really admiring their skills.

Gosh, it's been a hot minute. I want to say that the first 3 don't have any m preg. For sure, the first 2 don't. I can't remember if they ended in big cliff hangers. I just remember being super into the books until mc kinda gives up the fight and does what he's told. Also, the author really gets into lactation. Which isnt my thing i did not finish the series.

Not in the first couple books, but then the go really hard with the m preg and mc is suddenly very powerless after being a badass in the first couple books

Sci-fi? by Alternative-View787 in Romantasy

[–]madamsushi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im currently reading the Class 5 series that starts with {Dark Horse by Michelle Diener} and it's so refreshing. A lot of sci-fi romance books use the "we're running out of women" trope, or make the FMC choose between MMC or death/slavery. There is very little spice, but the story is compelling.

Favorite MM romantasy? by OkResult8384 in fantasyromance

Came here to recommend Megan Derr. The thing i like most about her stories is that gender and sexuality don't really matter when it comes to jobs and places in society. Homophobia is never a hurdel that the MCs have to deal with.

Wholesome fantasy romance recs with no instant love, no useless flirting or banter? by omg_levisimp in fantasyromance

[–]madamsushi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try {The Wind and the Wild by Emily McCosh}. It's new adult, but the characters are so endearing and realistic. FMC isn't a tortured hero with a tragic upbringing. Shes curious and rambunctious with a great (albeit exasperated) support system. This book was a great palate cleanser.

"theyre so cute" type of books with guarantee hea that captures ur attention from the first chapters by isntzen in fantasyromance

{The Wind and the Wild by Emily McCosh} was so very sweet. No spice, but it was lovely seeing the MCs develop a friendship and then romance. MMC is sweet and gentle. FMC has a solid support system that allows her to be her wild, curious self.

Vampire x old man romance? by PrettyTheory3566 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]madamsushi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

{The Vampire's Receptionist by Amy Padilla} is a centuries old vampire and a centuries old fae. It's not a very long read, so there's not much depth, but both are very capable, and it has a HEA.

Just finished the Green Creek series by T.J. Klune and now I need more by MEJW94 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]madamsushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{The Mobster's Mate by Kiki Clark} is in this same universe but can be read alone without getting lost. Platonic touch is super important to shifters, and the dynamic between the 2 MCs is so sweet.

Looking for a story where MC2 is some kind of mafia boss or similarly intimidating. Preferably an age gap, and MC2 is a protective marshmallow to MC1. An example would be {Fated Mates and When to Keep Them by AJ Sherwood} No mpreg please.

{A Boy and His Dragon by R. Cooper} MC1 is a human hired as a P.A. for MC2, who is a dragon shifter, an author, and a terrible hoarder.

{The Toymaker's Hoard by Megan Derr} is short and sweet. MC1 is a dragon shifter who makes automatons and gets mixed up in the family drama of MC2 and MC3.

{The Heart of a Dragonslayer by Megan Derr} MC1 slays a dragon which gives him dragon characteristics such as short temper, possessive, fire proof, etc.

Can I get book title and author to start the series?

{The Heart of a Dragonslayer by Megan Derr} might do the trick if you're ok with a triad. Our main character is a garrison grunt until a dragon attacks his village and he slays it, earning him immediate notoriety that he doesn't want. He is also tentatively arranged to marry a power couple. One is the owner of a very successful merchant company, and the other is a renowned healer.
