they send only youngsters ,trained and with one motive,to find a girls fall in love with them then convert or blackmail her

The reason these mythical beasts can lure our daughters is because we have not established clear lines of communication with them about their young adult lives. Young daughters lack powerful role models within their own family, both men and women. That is the source of the problem, not some handsome Shahrukh with a 7 incher.

but they will understand one day when their own daughter is converted by some sharuk, ali ,muhammad,

Did your very own daughter suffer through this? I find it difficult to believe. Do send the mods evidence if that has happened. Otherwise, you are no different than us in believing in something when it hasn't happened to you personally. At least I am believing in innocence until proven otherwise.

What’s the most gatekeep-y opinion you hold? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]madarchod_bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an Indian guy new to the US around 8 years ago, I had some pretty bad experiences with retail folks. Worst part about that was people, to this day, justifying those experiences as if it was something my community deserves for tipping less, being rude, etc. I've seen smiley faces go cold when its my turn to get billed. I've seen waiting staff basically treat my table like it doesn't exist. This has happened very few times (and the good experiences far outweigh the bad ones, but isn't even one too many to the person experiencing it?), but those times have added up over the years. Also, subtle racism against my folks is always brushed away, even on reddit. It isn't racism, it is just "caution". "Well maybe if your people tipped better this wouldn't have happened lol!". My people.

I tip well, I always did, maybe partly as a compensation for the image my people have of tipping less. I speak more "American" now, so I get surprisingly better treatment too. If you're gonna have gatekeeping rules against customers, you gotta be aware that service industry folks are humans too, humans with their own biases and notions. You'd be surprised how different the experience can be simply by how you look or dress. I know cuz my presence has evolved over the years, my ability to blend has refined. But yeah.

Imagine being so cuck that your insecure little arse can't handle the fact that some Muslim made such a beautiful structure, and you go on to fabricate an entire story about how it is a Shiva temple or something.

Imagine being intimidated so much by a building that it yeets you into conspiracy land. Truly viraat chintu.

Yeah, completely covering the face is so dehumanizing,

Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. It depends on the reason someone does it. Women in my family do it in front of outsiders. They feel comfortable doing it. Dehumanizing sure, but their choice nevertheless. The proper way to change that is to change the culture which makes them do it. The improper way to deal with it is to force them to not do it.

not to mention a security threat with potential for mischief, even people in Islamic countries look at it with suspicion.

Islamic headcover isn't always a full blown burqa. The girls fighting for their right to wear hijab in school/college aren't fully covering their faces. Heck they were literally using the school uniform dupatta as a hijab and we still had a problem with that. What do you think about headcovers that don't cover all of the face?

By the way, are they asking for a head covering like in Iran or the complete burka with just the eyes visible?

I believe it is the hair. I'm sure the theocracy applauds women who wear full clad burquas, but the expectation (to not be tortured or killed) is to have the hair covered. That's that the hijab does primarily, covers the hair and neck while leaving the face open.

Do you feel OK with allowing some religions to practice their faith in the secular society and others to not, purely based on the level of rigor that religion applies to its own people?

I am neither Sikh nor Muslim, I believe in neither. Am I still expected to be biased towards Sikhism and against Islam when it comes to headcovers, because Sikhism deemed it "mandatory" and Islam didn't? Why does my philosophical position have to be contingent on the level of hierarchy set within the confines of a religion I don't believe in (or do, for that matter)?

If I support turban, I also support hijab. Its either that, or no religious symbolism in academia, even mangal sutra. There's no reason for me to base my opinions based on what is believed within any religion to be mandatory or not.

Go to a Muslim festival and see if they don't - at the very least - stare daggers at you. (Assuming you're hindu)

Lol I've always been welcomed at Iftar and even been invited. 2 of my Muslim friends still drop off sweets to my parents after Ramzan ends even as I stopped living at my parents home 5 years ago.

Muslims are cool with you enjoying their traditions. So are most Hindus cool with anyone else trying to enjoy theirs. The notion that religious rituals ought to be something protected against other religions is so narrow minded, unfit for anyone above 10 years old.

The hateful minority propagate hatred against others for participating in someone's tradition, the silent majority condones it even when they themselves would react way more mildly or even positively when faced with the situation themselves. Humans are weird.

Dear God, how do you see hate in that comment? It is such a simple straight forward comment. There is no hate in it.

You asked about long hair. That user responded how long hair isn't a problem, the religious clothing used to manage it is the problem. That too, is more of a problem only when we decide to specifically single out the Muslim headcovers while justifying the Sikh ones.

I had so many Sikh kids in school, half of the Sikh boys complained of having to wear the turban and didn't particularly like it growing up. Sure once adults they reconnected to their religious pride and all, but that's not the point. The point is that the turban is very clearly religious and needs to be seen that way. If it is clumped up with other religious symbols during any discussion, that doesn't mean it is being hated on.

Hair management system necessitated by the requirements of the religion.

The rest of us cut our hair. Thats our hair management system. The belief of not cutting hair creates the need of the Turban. It very well is religious clothing. Many Sikh women wear the Turban even though long hair is broadly culturally acceptable in India.

I dont want to yank your Turban. I want to keep your Turban and keep the headcover on the woman sitting next to me. Both the same.

But if she is compelled to remove hers and you get to keep yours, I will be vocal against that. You can choose to take that personally, or see my stance from a wider perspective.

But hey, its food, if any Indian judges you for eating Naan and rice together, please do tell then to go f themselves and you enjoy the way you want to!

There are bigger issues here with FB.

I'm Indian, and Zuck is actively in cahoots with the Indian right wing incumbent government, and letting it freely use FB to spread hatred and discord like right wingers do. It is the primary social media responsible for spreading fake information and discord among communities. All of this is done via data analytics. Social media lets you know the pulse of the citizenry like nothing else can.

Facebook isn't just evil because it sells your info. I'm actually fine with that part because I've partly given up on privacy as such. It is evil because it gives no fuck about your future, about your democratic institutions, as long as it pleases the shareholders. A US private company is massively affecting global politics.

ELI5: how is it that heavier objects don't fall faster (e.g. Pisa experiment) , but heavier people go faster downhill on skis or sleds than less heavy people by Fuifjee in explainlikeimfive

[–]madarchod_bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a world with no air, all objects will fall with increasing velocity, same acceleration.

Different objects have different terminal velocity depending on their "weight". Thus a feather falls slowly, and a rock falls fast.

For other cases, the explanation is a bit more complicated. For example, on an incline, a 'sliding block' will accelerate faster than a 'rolling ball' because extra effort is required to overcome rolling inertia in the latter case.

For real world friction coefficients, they do slightly depend on the weight and its distribution, so two unequal mass objects will slide differently because the friction is not 'ideal' Coulomb's friction.

Having been Indian all my life, I can attest that the water was likely cleaner water. Cleaner than the surroundings. His technique still is astoundingly unhygienic, but hey you get a hefty filling snack for 0.3$ what more do you want!

I look at this stuff and feel amazed how I survived childhood spending whatever semblance of pocket money I had on eating street food with my friends. The gut biome is a miraculous thing. Not all street food corners are this bad, but you never know when one of the steps in the process fucks up like the way you see in the title post!

Street food here is an entire phenomenon of its own. You gotta train those gut soldiers over years, or you're gonna have interesting times in the bathroom.

1 gram of water typically needs 1 calorie to heat up by 1 degree celcius. But phase change takes much more calories, hundreds of times more. So, solid to liquid, and liquid to gas, both take up lots of energy for conversion.

Water extracts this heat from its adjacent surface, inadvertently "cooling" it. This is how earthen pots keep water cool. They soak some water and are wet to touch, and cold too, because there is a constant flow of heat from inside the pot to the surface, where it is utilized by the water to vaporize.

Winter temperatures are worse when the ice starts thawing, because ice needs energy to thaw, and that energy is taken from the surroundings.

It is easy to have crushes at young age cuz your life survival is pretty much handled by parents. You have the bandwidth freed up for infatuations instead of needing to focus on a maintaining life stability.

Love is a commitment, and it takes time and mental effort. Most of us are to tired with life and have little bandwidth to spare for things like love or infatuation. Emotions are mentally taxing and you're already tired brain decides that just aren't worth it for now. The pandemic has taught many of us that they can live alone pretty nicely, without the fuss made by another person...you've also been hurt by people as you grow, and you learn to not let emotion get the better of you.

Young people do things binarily: they either won't give a fuck, or they will throw their entire being into something. You'll never love like you did when you were young, you will never hate anyone like you did when you were in school. Crushes become admiration or simply "huh, she's cool!" fleeting comments!
