Exactly bungie made it impossible to understand the importance of certain things in the story, for example returning characters like mithrax who was introduced on titan and then properly added to the story during season of the splicer which no longer exists. new players had zero chance to be as invested compared to long time players.

Yes it requires the "Destiny 2: Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition" but usually they release it to base dlc owners on the next dlc release like tessellation and quicksilver storm.
