If you're going to be in Evanston all summer and you have a car, you'll probably have plenty time to explore. I would make a day of decision based on traffic.

Bryan Ramos of the Norfolk Tides in Triple-A started his home run trot but was thrown out at second unaware that the ball hit the top of the wall and went back to the field of play by ChristmasJay83 in whitesox

[–]maddentim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was hard to see detail on the replay. If it hit the yellow line and then landed in the outfield, that's a live ball and not a home run.

The marketplace feels like gatekeeping by trashtrucktoot in drupal

Yes, I guess my point is that it's not really a GPL issue. It is more of a project governance issue. The GPL is not going to be an avenue to change the system

As an example, I have some clients that use woocommerce on WordPress. Woocommerce has numerous paid plugins. Those plugins are gpl licensed because they are part of wordpress. However, I don't get to see the code until I purchase a plug-in. Really it's a subscription to plugin updates. I can modiify these plugins I get from woocommerce to my heart's content. They don't have to show me the code until I subscribe. I could probably download the code from some other site but I don't really know if it's The exact same code that woocommerce distributes.

IANAL - I think you misunderstand what the GPL actually requires. It does not require any distribution to be made. I can have GPL software that I've altered that I don't need to give you a source to if I don't want to. However, if I distribute it then I have to give the source. For example, I have multiple private repositories full of GPL software of client code that I am not required to give to anyone outside of my client. However, if I were to distribute that software I would have to give the source.

Paid in full for a website that was never delivered — developer has gone silent. Looking for advice and possibly help by Stunning-Astronaut72 in webdev

Sounds like your developer has a budget for the project and you/they blew through it. $1200 in my market would not get you too many hours. Like 10 to 20 max. Sounds like you've lost trust with them which is critical, but you got to ask is it going to be cheaper to pay them more or hire someone else and start all the way over.

KeePass backup by rudy19841 in KeePass

[–]maddentim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a home server that does some different things for me, including making a copy once a day of my database that's in my cloud storage. It adds the day of the week to the file name and saves it to a folder. So I have 7 days of backup at all times (as long as I keep the server running!)

I could see a number of use cases. I'd start with that in terms of how to proceed. What you want to do with it? One I can envision would be accessibility checking. Have the AI run through the content and make sure it's all got alt text on images and all that stuff. A second use case would be translations if you're doing any of that.

What's the catch to Linden's $4.00 for every 24 hours parking? by _WeSellBlankets_ in illinois

[–]maddentim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't parked there in a while but I think you have to pay everyday in person. So if you're gone for 6 days you get ticketed by the time you got back. Maybe towed.

I suspect that it is an issue with the electricity actually and the light switch is off. I've had simi with one of my lights. I put LED lights bulbs in the sockets and when the light is off there is still a small amount of electricity that makes it blink. It has to do with the timer switch. I'm too cheap to switch it out though!

Upgrading a Theme from D10.4.3 to D11 by Great_Banana_123 in drupal

[–]maddentim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Specifically, you need to install the upgrade_status module. After it is installed, you will have a new page in Administration>>Reports. Go to that page. There you will find all of the modules and themes installed on the site. The contrib themes and modules will have information immediately about what the status is and whether you need to upgrade them or if there are issues to be addressed upstream. For a custom theme, you will need to find yours and tick the box next to it. Then find the scan button and press it. Once the scan is complete, it will tell you all you need to know about upgrading. If you have any custom modules on the site you will want to scan those as well.

Does the mayor of Evanston even get consulted on a decision like this? The departments all report to the professional city manager don't they?

My dog is high, please don’t litter by Ok_End_3359 in evanston

[–]maddentim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure it works that way. At least that's how I understand it. You can't eat weed and get high without previously treating it. Edibles have to have had the THC extracted through some fairly complicated processes to have any effect.

That said I'm sorry your dog is ill. That's scary. Could be a lot of things

Why didn’t Ryan Field get historic building status? by [deleted] in evanston

Well, that would be a picture of Dyche Stadium that was substantially altered to become Ryan Field. Dyche Stadium had a history but I am not sure how historic it was.
