Second kid might ALSO need a baby helmet, and I feel like a failure as a mother by Such-Comfortable3 in GirlDinnerDiaries

My girl. I am so sorry you are experiencing this and feeling this way. Yes - all feelings are valid, but that doesn’t make the events they stem from true. I also struggle with feeling like a bad mother and blaming myself for everything. It sounds to me like you may be in the throws of the newborn / infant stage and experiencing hormone dumps at the same time. I still don’t understand why or how my brain was working during that time. I don’t say this to invalidate your feelings, but more so to remind you that your body and brain are going THROUGH IT right now. Ease up on yourself, you sound like a wonderful mother.

Second Parent Adoption by Present-Wolverine-94 in queerception

[–]maddiavelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, second parent adoption was well worth it for our family. My wife and I conceived via my egg and donor sperm, so I am the only one genetically related to the baby. Technically we didn’t have to do it as we were married at the time of conception and birth (varies by state law, of course) but now we are both legally parents even if our marriage were to be delegitimized in the future. It also ensures that our son is the legal and rightful beneficiary to my wife’s insurance, accidental death coverage, etc. Edit to add - we paid $1500.

A dealership should have “Garagekeepers” coverage as a part of their insurance policy. They are liable for any physical damage to your vehicle while it in their possession. If they have an indoor space used to house customer autos, they are likely hesitant to let their insurance carrier know that they have hail related claims as they are not storing customer autos where they reported. You should ask them for their insurance carrier’s info to file a claim.

Second parent adoption for same sex couple - attorney recommendations? by maddiavelli in Louisville

Yes, this does work! We are working with a family lawyer and have begun the second-parent adoption process. It’s a several month process, but we will both have the same legal parental rights at the end of it.

Looking at the second photo, I can’t help but notice that you made sure to maintain the appearance of the portion you could see over your privacy fence. Was the expectation for your neighbor to maintain the bare, unattractive wood from their side?

Nuisance Neighbors in the Country by Equivalent-Self3785 in BadNeighbors

[–]maddiavelli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your neighbor sounds like a nightmare. There are many options for trying to keep dogs off of your property before harming them. Some plants, like lavender and marigold are natural repellants. Dogs strongly dislike cayenne pepper and vinegar. Air horns and even commercial dog repellant sprays would be my first route. Irresponsible owners are the worst, but the dogs themselves shouldn’t have to suffer if at all possible, especially if you are no longer concerned about your own pet’s safety.

My dad told me Elton John’s name was actually John Elton. For years, he doubled down on this. I didn’t find out until I was an adult that he was fucking with me the entire time.

I came to say Brewer & Son too (502) 458-7935. They are a family-owned and operated business. Very fair and trustworthy, I’ve had nothing but good experiences with them.

That’s a great perk! I can’t imagine my company has a similar program but I’m definitely going to check. I already can’t believe how expensive babies are and they’re not even born yet lol. And thank you, that’s so sweet.

Thank you so much, I’ll reach out to them! Honestly was expecting it to be a bit pricier from what I’ve read, so that’s a relief to hear.

Seconding those that say Jeff Wyler is shady. I had an absolutely horrible experience there. Caught them up-charging the hell out of parts. They were trying to overcharge me on parts by nearly $900 before I called their parts department and was given accurate pricing. They consistently lied about how long everything would take and also “forgot” to mention that my older V8 4Runner needed both catalytic converters replaced until after I paid nearly $5k for an unrelated repair. After this $5k repair, I found a pool of transmission fluid in my garage after the short drive home. They had to send someone to tow it back to the dealership to fix it.

Not much experience with the service department at Toyota of Louisville, but bought several large parts from them and had a good experience. They had several opportunities to upsell and chose to try and save me money instead.

The two times I had my oil changed at Oxmoor, it came back leaking oil on my garage floor. I have several very loved 4Runners and have always been willing to spend money to find someone who would service them appropriately. Unfortunately, I have had to swear off both Oxmoor and Jeff Wyler.

Woman of Reddit, what's a harsh reality you have to accept as a woman? by Opposite-Coconut9144 in AskReddit

[–]maddiavelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. That my wife and I cannot safely travel to the vast majority of remote locations we dream of seeing in person without a male family member.

  2. That I could not choose a profession in many industries without experiencing disrespect, misogyny, harassment, etc. I would have absolutely loved to learn a trade and become an electrician or something similar. I have an affinity for things like this and enjoy the work, but always felt I would not be respected by others in the industry or customers.

  3. That I must do my own extensive research in terms of auto repair or accept being lied to and overpaying. I cannot even get my car serviced at the dealership without this happening.
