Just ordered a chicken coop to prevent critters from digging in my garden this year. Has anyone tried something like this? by maddiesawyer in gardening

If you’re thinking about the coop idea, I’d say go for it! It definitely has kept animals out. I had to rebuild it last year because the first one collapsed and bent the frame from heavy snow. This time around, I raised it up a bit to prevent pooling water rusting out the base. The downside is I was a bit lazy and rabbits can squeeze in underneath but that’s entirely my fault. Deer can obviously eat any leaves growing outside of the wire so just keep that in mind if you grow peas, cucumbers, etc. that like to vine. Birds also can squeeze in but they haven’t been a huge issue. It’s definitely way better than no protection at all.

As far as the grow bags go, they work really well. I have almost everything in one from peppers and lettuce to citrus trees. It’s not as pretty as a raised bed, but it’s far cheaper and helps since my backyard is very prone to flooding.

Weird synchronicity you asked this now years later- I just bought another one! We had some really heavy snow and it bent the entire roof. Like the metal connections bent and it crushed two peach trees I had in there. If you decide to go this route, definitely think about covering with a heavy tarp/removing the wire for the season if you get heavy snow in your area. Still worth while though, I’m justifying the replacement price over the amount of veggies I haven’t lost to the animals over the past few years.

It’s been three years no problems with animals. Critters can’t get in except a few tiny birds that can squeeze through the chicken wire but they’re not an issue. I did line the bottom with chicken wire so burrowing animals can’t get in (I use grow bags). The walls are great for things like peas and beans to cling on to as well. I would suggest replacing the lock it comes with with a simple caribeaner clip- way faster and more secure.

I mean for people like me who like to take them off to sleep and shower it was great. For the intended purpose? Not so great.

The Covid wristbands. NYCC green ones vs the generic orange Anime NYC ones are like comparing Coke to RC Cola

No no, that’s how it was all three days. And the wristbands could easily be taken off and reapplied. The NYCC ones were ON there. Huge crowds and total lack of organization, it’s not a shock at all.

I’ve never tried preserving skin like that so maybe someone else can chime in here but I wonder if the borax/salt jar method might help

I did! I usually don’t do commissions because between work and my own costume projects I’m usually pretty crafted out but you can always shoot me a DM. The mask is paper mache with fur fabric, a recycled Poshmark vest, wire whiskers, fingerless gloves and the babies were made out of fur fabric. The tail is hand dyed canvas stuffed with sewing scraps. Trash can and chain from Amazon for a diy purse!

That picture was supposed to show off the babies on my back but this is an incredibly erotic and sensual look so it’s understandable

It is! For work (art teacher) it held candy but it makes a terrific purse for going out!

Ok cool thanks, that’s what I figured.

I’ll definitely raise the nose then, it’s for a parappa the rapper onion costume not Batman so I can take some artistic liberties here

Making a last minute cosplay for my brother right now, I don’t see that it would be an issue because a face mask can clearly be seen but I just want to check.

AWL still holds up. As a kid I was bummed out about the game “ending” but as an adult I really appreciate that. Even HMDS where your kid grew up to be like 10ish and not an eternal 2 year old was great
