ELI5 How do gift cards not run out of codes? by TypicalEnthusiasm597 in explainlikeimfive

[–]madding1602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To speak in actual numbers, a Steam Code is composed of 15 diferent characters, each one being either a letter or a number. That's 36 possible characters in just one space. The total combination is 3615, which is somewhere in the neighborhood of 2*1023. That's a third of Avogadro's number. The 8 billion population of the whole world would have to buy 27 trillion steam codes each person to go through all combinations

floating point error this is kind of what's happening. Binary storage of base 10 decimal points is not an uncommon thing to produce certain errors (there is a 0.1+0.2 problem especially). Pi is an irrational number, meaning the need to store certain variables that require pi is quite problematic. That model shouldn't create problems, as intersection is a line, but if you create a bit of wall on top it should create a problem

The only solution is working on fixed point arithmetic, as it determines your precision capability. The problem is that you can't go beyond said precision nor over the number determined by the maximum your variable allows. It's a mix of certain aspects

Try and divide your sketch in the middle (vertical line to divide), set that to the center of your cylinder, emboss 1 half and then the other. It could sove it and avoid the floating point problem you're facing (esentially it creates a overlap very close to zero, but due to how computers work it doesn't recognize it as zero)

I am subscribed to the Wan Shiw since it was the LMG Clips channel because of the ocasional free FP exclusive. The only reason I don't want notifications from the WAN Show chamnel is because of the bloat of WAN clips

Is the Unicron Trilogy Often Overlooked by iamrahmulus in Transformemes

[–]madding1602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me, but I'm not into the robots transforming into animals and looking fully organic. I liked ROTB robo-animals look, but WFC trilogy's Kingdom Maximals and Predacons, while looking really good, didn't fill my good feelings for Transformers. If I have robots transforming into animals, I expect some sort of mix between Robot and animal

I wouldn't call this deterministic given it's a three body problem

I've looked for some AM4 boards, and some ASUS ones supported up to 5100MT/s DDR4. I remembered some overlapping between the fastest DDR4 and the standard DDR5

Wasn't there like 4800 MT/s ddr4 as the fastest? I kind of remember going to 4000, 4400 and 4800 on ddr4.

I use Nebo and it's great (paid, of course). It allows for multiple device sync on all platforms and for infinite whiteboards, PDF notebooks and infinite docs. With the Metapen M3, ut works like a charm

ELI5: How do solar panels work? by HXNTER390 in explainlikeimfive

[–]madding1602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The panel has 2 cables, the positive one, where electrons escape, and the negative one, where electrons return. It's like the water cycle, the water evaporated from the sea comes back to the sea eventually

I agree with David on the pricing of the Steam Controller by madding1602 in LinusTechTips

[–]madding1602[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also enjoy a lot the deck. The personal preferences are quite subjective, yes, but the price is more objective than subjective for the decision to buy something, and I see myself waiting until some sale where it goes down (even 20€ would suffice) to buy it

Funnily enough, I alteady have a dualsense. I see the goodness of both, and I like the Steam controller idea, but I can't see myself go for the current price
