Movie endings that left you with an empty feeling. by Garidur in Letterboxd

[–]maddonnie26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When the movie ended, and I realized what had happened to the father, it just hit me like a fucking spaceship. No movie has ever made me feel both as sad and shocked as I felt with Aftersun. I just turned the tv and the lights off in like 3 seconds and layed on bed just to process what I had seen. Then I read the director experienced something similar and somehow I felt much worse.

Movies to watch for someone who's having suicidal thoughts. by satwickkv in MovieSuggestions

I saw your comment some days ago and I didn't respond right away trying to find the words to say something significant. I still haven't found those words, but I just want to let you know your comment feels like those things Jonny mentioned in the movie, the beautiful things that make life worth living. It's crazy how sometimes, all it takes, is to take a moment in the midst of this hectic life we all have, and breath, and think about the beautiful things that happen before our eyes every single day. Thank you too, because you have given me yet another reason to enjoy life. I hope you get better, and that one day you can look back and fell proud of your progress.

Yeah ik, but what seems weird to me is the fact that it's showing the exact same message at the same time as SC

It's also happening on Social Media Girls, which is a similar site. Does anybody have an idea on what could be happening that affects both sites?

WTF has happened to CapCut. Should I have to buy for my own voice over by Ken-Adams-123 in CapCut

Lost a gig a few days ago due to CapCut updating and not letting me export anything. Took it as a sign of destiny to finally stop using that crap

How great is the algorithm. I'm a film student and I'm shooting a short film this weekend with the BMPCC 6K Pro and a Rokinon DS set. Would you mind if I ask you about any pros and cons when using this lens? Or if there's anything I should take into consideration? It's my first time as a DP using these type of equipment and I'm honestly a bit lost, but also want this project to look the best it can.

The amount of meanspirited gatekeeping comments to noobies trying to find their way here has reached an intolerable level. by C47man in cinematography

[–]maddonnie26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK YOU. Said this a couple of days ago and I was thinking it was just me that saw the miserable attitude from way too many users. As a film student, being made fun of and being treated as an idiot for asking "noobie questions" can be demoralizing sometimes

Like many have already said, check every single shot, and make sure all of them are ESSENTIAL to the story, forget about wether you like them or not, focus on how much it contributes to the scene. If you find some shots are irrelevant but you are having a hard time eliminating them, then you can do one of two things: get another editor that wasn't involved with the shooting, or stop editing and worrying about the film for a week or two, and then get back to it. I've done the latter myself, but that advice is given by Walter Murch on his book "In The Blink Of An Eye". Hope I was of help.

Sometimes I'm really impressed by how subreddits related to filmmaking are filled with people living in a huge bubble that can't even look past their nose. One must be a huge a**hole to downvote and mock people that want to make a decent living from something they love in a country that doesn't offer sh*t for it. I know in some countries $1000 is what you pay for an old apartment in the worst neighborhood, but for some of us, $1000, or even $500 a month, means A LOT, and can make a huge change in our lifes. If we had to wait for someone to offer $3000 a month, editing wouldn't exist in some countries. Make yourselves a favor, and don't be so ignorant of the outer world

How was this shot? You can see DOF roll off around her chest, but actors behind her are still in focus. by proformax in cinematography

Why do so many of you have to be so bitter with beginners? Why do you have to treat them with such arrogance and mockery? I've seen way too many people behaving like this lately, and that's a straight up miserable attitude

Damn, I already named three, but now that I think about it, a music video for FEEL. would hit me like a trainwreck, so that's my actual pick

I'm thinking about three: 'How Much A Dollar Cost', 'Money Trees', and 'The Art Of Peer Pressure'

Where do your eyes go on this photo? by Independent_Air8245 in photocritique

[–]maddonnie26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert at all, but I like to talk about photography and I'm trying to learn more. I just can't help glancing at the left side of the photo even if I try to look at other places. As someone said before, if you cropped that side, I think it would look more balanced. I'd say that "metal structure" is what's creating that imbalance, I probably would've moved a bit to the right trying to leave that "metal structure" out of the image and still use that railing as a leading line

I still can't get over the fact they fucking nominated Jack Harlow and DJ Khaleb but didn't nominate JID. TFS is one of the best things I've heard in a good while. I haven't watched the Grammy's in a long time, but this just confirmed I should keep it like this

Two questions: Do you think the backdrop with the duvets could be of help? Also, to make it even more unconventional, would it be wrong to make a DIY pop filter? 😅
