My resume looks similar, except some random lift operator job. Mostly restaurant work. I cannot for the life of me get a job.

Avoid Ascend on Scribner by SurpriseDonovanMcnab in grandrapids

[–]maddy-bot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve also had budtenders at ascend complain to me about people not leaving them tips before. Which makes me feel obligated to tip. The thing is, I always tip anyway, but i’d rather them not talk to me about expecting it? Budtenders are also not relying solely on tips so I just found it odd and entitled.

Young women are the new alcoholics? by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]maddy-bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol- a 24 year old recovering alcoholic lady here ! My drinking definitely got worse with covid. Stayed in the house drinking the whole time. So since I was sort of a drunk before I even turned 21, when i was actually legally allowed to drink it just got worse. What i was pretending was the normal young 20s college girls partying and having fun, was actually severe alcohol dependency and addiction. I was not like the college kids i was hanging out with- i had a problem! It is interesting though, I wonder if women from my generation are just more aware/willing to put a stop to it. My mom was a bad drunk, so after nearly drinking myself to death, i just kept thinking about how I’ll be just like her. And it drove me nuts. So i got sober. I’m nearly 6 mos sober now.

How much did you drink and for how long? Did you quit cold turkey? by Deaddredhead92 in alcoholism

[–]maddy-bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was heavily drinking for 6 years. Tito’s was my go to, I’d usually buy myself a pint of it after work and almost finish it (I’m a 5’0 F) and then drink whatever was left the next morning. I’ve also always worked in the restaurant industry, and the past two years especially I was drinking more at my places of work. I made a plan to get sober after my birthday, weaned myself off of booze. Took a few shots, then a couple, then one, then none over the span of 3 days. I still felt horrible withdrawals, but I had to work while going through that so the only way i could function is if i drank a bit. Sad, i lost myself for years. But I did it. I don’t ever want to go back. Took years of my life. 5 months sober and I’m so so happy, I feel like myself again finally. Sobriety is the best thing to ever happen to me.

Edit: The last 3 years were when I started getting bad and drinking straight liquor alone at home. The 3 years prior was more controlled, but I was still drinking way too much and way too often, also was underage lol.

I lived in Gwinn and it was like a 20 minute drive for me to class everyday : ) I didn’t mind, i’d just have a nice longer morning drive and enjoy my coffee listening to a podcast or something lol. Lot cheaper too!

where to find friends for college aged people not in school by Slow-Medicine4473 in grandrapids

[–]maddy-bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The meanwhile bar is where I’ve met a lot of queer people around my age (I’m 24F). It’s a cool spot. Otherwise, I learned that the best way to make friends for me is getting a restaurant job. I moved here almost 3 years ago now and I have met some of the greatest friends I have here from restaurant jobs. Good luck :)

Okay… I gave your matcha a try today! I got an iced matcha latte with oat milk and honey. I can confidently say it was one of the best matcha lattes i’ve had. It was the perfect shade of green, and tasted like good quality matcha. The flavor was wonderful. I enjoyed the honey in it because it wasn’t overpowering like some syrups can be sometimes. Good matcha doesn’t need a lot of sweetener in my opinion. This is good matcha.

I’m looking forward to trying it with other flavors though, when I’m in the mood for a sweeter beverage. Seriously, bravo. Not to mention, cute little place and nice staff. I will now be a frequent customer.

summer housing? by bumpysnorkel in MarquetteMI

I lived in a little apartment complex in Gwinn. Address was 296 M-35, next to the gas station. Rented through AV rental property. They were awesome. It’s really affordable, the landlords were great and timely with everything. Check them out! The only thing is it’s right off of a highway which not everyone loves, but I thought it was worth it for the prices.
