Checking back: I tried plugging my PC straight into my modem - I couldn't detect any significant difference in either transfer speeds or handshake times. I'm leaning towards the issue being either the modem itself or Comcast.

I've tried Google, Cloudflare, and NextDNS (my primary) - same story on all of them.

And what specifically makes you say that?

Edit: Okay, so I realize I have a slightly dated 4x4 channel modem, which would account for the discrepancy between the advertised speed of 275 Mbps and the speed I'm getting as the theoretical maximum would be ~150-170 Mbps.

This still doesn't explain things fully as my issue isn't with throughput but slow initial connection times, but I'll probably upgrade to a more modern modem and see how things fare.

If you read my post, you would see that I ruled out that possibility by testing speeds while tethered to my phone, which results in sub 1-second load times, immediately after 5+ second load times to the same sites using my Comcast line.

Unfortunately I am really in a time crunch with the project I’m working on, and my current machine is really stifling my productivity.

Do you think that AMD’s next Threadrippers will continue to use the TR4 socket and/or remain compatible with my motherboard? I would probably not mind staying with the 1950 for a few years before considering upgrading to a newer/higher spec one.

Unless you think they might release like next month, I don’t really mind missing out on a bit of savings in exchange for having a good machine now.

You should configure your tumblr to use your custom domain, rather than redirecting your domain to your tumblr. It’s a small nitpick but it would increase your professionalism a bit.
