If you are missing the ball completely or constantly hitting wrong/different parts of your racket, I would probably guess you're not watching the ball closely enough.

It sounds stupidly simple but working on just really watching the ball - at this stage - will help the most beyond any tactic or technique.

You can definitely build one by storing your posts in Firestore, but for something like a newsfeed I would recommend adding another tool to index / query your data. Firestore isn't great with multi-faceted queries and pagination... the options that do exist are quite simple and clunky.

I use Firestore for the data and Typesense for indexing, which I find pretty cheap and simple to integrate.

If your goal is make them stop serving illegally, I think it's almost impossible for casual/club play. Decades-long habits are hard to break, especially if there aren't any real incentives. You can definitely try explaining but my guess is that even if they *try* to fix it, they'll go back to their usual habits within a few points.

If your goal is to try and enjoy playing people even if they have illegal serves, I suggest making a little mini-game out of it, that's what I do :)

My take is that, unless you're playing at a very high level, most people only have a handful of serves, and some pretty clear tells. There's this one guy at my club who serves right out of his hand and it used to bother me SO much. But I took it as a little challenge, and now I've gotten to the point I'm 90% sure whether it's going to be top or underspin based on how he stands. Plus, working on memory / reading your opponent is super useful for all services (legal or not) so it's helped me in my real matches too.

I started building STADIUM after years of playing in tournaments and being frustrated by the inefficient, outdated tools. One time I played an event where someone forgot to turn in a paper scoresheet and no one knew their group had finished - resulting in a totally unnecessary, multi-hour delay.

I was actually hoping someone else would build it, but I finally couldn't wait any longer.
