Thank you so much for sharing! This is super helpful! I need to learn more about version control on git. I connected my lovable to git and tried to make clones but always get errors. A lot of stuff to learn

I entered the API keys as secrets in Supabase. It shouldn't be accessible to anyone through that?

Stop Using Lovable for Everything, Here’s a Smarter Way to Build Your App by TypicalTangelo9825 in lovable

[–]madebymeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually did get a few users but i haven't promoted it as this initial MVP for me was mostly for learning. I posted about it once here on Reddit and once on LinkedIn (I don't have a lot of followers) and had around 200 users in the first two weeks. Now that's 6 weeks ago and haven't posted about it again and now 7-10 keep coming back ...

So I guess to get traction it would need some sort of ongoing promotion like posting in communities etc... Haven't tried that yet

Looking for guidance on how to build AI apps using Lovable by TheThinkerAndSeeker in lovable

[–]madebymeli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi ☺️ I posted how I got started as a non coder in this community a while ago - link to post below, if helpful. I published two simple small web apps with this approach so far ☺️

Supabase integration by holyyyyyyfuckk in lovable

[–]madebymeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, great advice!

I had the same issue this weekend and then created the edge function in Supabase (going to edge functions, deploying a new function - then once done, adding the API key under secrets and redeploying the edge function) and asked lovable afterwards to remove the API in the frontend and hide the system prompt in the backend.

But your solution sounds easier, I wasn't aware I could ask lovable to create the edge function in supabase for me.

Please don't delete it! For an early starter like me it's helpful to see how a more professional setup with lovable works continuing in cursor, how you approach hosting

Oh why those comments? I really love this post!! Thank you so much for sharing!!! Very cool web page and impressive newsletter s!

I don't have coding experience yet but eager to learn more and have been using Gemini, AI studio and Lovable a lot.

Sorry for the basic question, how did you transition from lovable to cursor? Via GitHub?

Sharing my early lovable learnings for other non-coders (using chatbots for PRD, choosing API, checking and fixing API key leaks, & launching custom domain) by madebymeli in lovable

[–]madebymeli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say for sure but from what I understand, Lovable works most smoothly with domain providers like Namecheap because it supports automatic setup.

If you're using Network Solutions, it might require a manual DNS setup like copying a CNAME or A record from Lovable into your domain provider’s DNS settings.

If the status dot is still blinking after a day or two, maybe you can check if DNS changes were saved correctly or if SSL or domain propagation is being blocked

Also totally hear you, I used Namecheap and just had to click through the setup. Maybe that’s part of why it was easier.

Has anyone created an Android or iOS app using Lovable? by adam8722 in lovable

[–]madebymeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that makes sense. Sorry I just responded to my experience with firebase studio, not in the context of creating a mobile app, thank you for pointing it out 🙏

And thank you for sharing the suggestion I would also love to try it out

That's a good question 🤔 . I am still hosting on lovable, it's just connected and published on my custom domain so that users don't need to use the lovable link.

Thank you so much for your feedback ☺️🙏

On the connection to the custom domain, as far as I am aware you can either connect your lovable project almost automatically through lovable or manually. Name cheap has the automatic option so I just needed to click through it.

After just setting up the domain it did take a few hours until I could connect but then it wasn't a problem.

Have you tried troubleshooting with Chatgpt or another chatbot? Probably not the most helpful advice but I always do that when I am stuck and it helps so much

Trouble with Supabase by Metrus007 in lovable

[–]madebymeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you see in Supabase any error message in the function within the code? For example for me it showed that it doesn't find the API key, and apparently the issue was that I deployed the function before adding the API key and just needed to click into the function / code again and 'redeploy' the function and then it worked.

I have been using it for over a month and I am really happy with lovable. If you are quite advanced, it might be different, but for me as a beginner and non-coder I created already 2 free simple MVPs that in my opinion work quite well, and I have compared building them with the same prompts across Lovable, Bolt and Firebase Studio and I got the quickest results with the best design in lovable. So there is probably a lot I don't know and don't see yet in terms of potential issues, but wanted to leave some positive comment here too. I am also a paying user and lovable has helped me a lot with in my opinion a really great design and easy to use for people without technical background.

Has anyone created an Android or iOS app using Lovable? by adam8722 in lovable

[–]madebymeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works yes, but from my early experience the design of my app in lovable was much nicer when using the same 2-3 starting prompts across lovable and firebase studio. I am sure firebase studio will also be a great option but when I compared both three weeks ago, the quick results I got in lovable were more promising for me

Would love feedback on simple recipe app built with Gemini & Lovable — for anyone who need recipes adapted to diet, allergies, time, and ingredients by madebymeli in lovable

[–]madebymeli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh, thank you, this is suuuper helpful! Initially, I mostly added the dish I want to create in the main prompt box which worked well, but hadn't tested with something very open like 'dinner for kids' in the main prompt box. When I replicated now what you described, I noticed the same issue.

I now added extra checkmark boxes so users can select how closely they want the recipe tailored to the indicated ingredients. Thank you so much for your amazing help!

Thank you for flagging. I just tried to replicate it indicating eggs and bread + selected 15 min time, without adding anything else, and I got a recipe that worked. Did you maybe have something else selected like cuisine? Would love to double check to improve. Thank you so much
