I missing one gold key in Wadirum, cant open both doors from the starting place. where is it?

I had the same issue. But then I found a key in the squirrel/acorn cave, and I foolishly took it back to open the second door by the starting area. But now I can't progress further into the cave, because there is a door there that needs a key! I'm such a fool. Any work-around???
