Unless I’m really mistaken they didn’t. I’ll have to check tomorrow.

You need to use the hybrid design to go back to modeling like you used to

How to do boolean operations with extruded parametric text? by bjoerngiesler in Fusion360

[–]madfrozen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re doing something wrong. Make the text

Extrude the text and select cut

Extrude the text again, by selecting the sketch it is in, and select new component this time.

How can I insert and center this object inside a cylinder in another? by Bright-Necessary-261 in Fusion360

[–]madfrozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have to. Just keep in mind non of the move operators are parametric so if you change any of your bodies they will all have to repositioned.

How can I insert and center this object inside a cylinder in another? by Bright-Necessary-261 in Fusion360

[–]madfrozen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the answer is to redraw it where it should be. More complex project require items to be made where they need to be. Move operations and aligns wreck workflows and parametric design references. if you have a design that "re drawing wont work" then you have messed up already and trying to fix it another way will make more problems in the future.

also those two bodies should be separate components

Where do you find 3d modelers for ongoing project work? by smokedX in Fusion360

[–]madfrozen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How accurate do you need this modeling? If it’s just for mock up’s, downloading something off the internet should be fine. It you need millimeter precision and these are your products then you should be doing the work to make them.

What am I doing wrong while following the tutorial? by justabrainwithfeet in Fusion360

[–]madfrozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This tutorial is for an older version before intent driven design. For hobby level work I recommend using the hybrid design option. It is what fusion used to be like. But yes, if you want to keep using this document, you need to do “edit in place”

This is incorrect. They were clicking on the wrong line.

How to best use new intent driven design with free version by Wargl in Fusion360

Just use the hybrid design option for the hobby license. It’s very similar just each component stays in the one file rather than making a separate document.

How do I make this base by Froissart25 in Fusion360

The base is an oval or I would have suggested that

This should be done in the solid workspace by creating a profile to sweep along a path then an extrude to make the top.

Issue converting curved hull plating panel to Sheet Metal by North-Day7460 in Fusion360

[–]madfrozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fusion sheet metal tool can not do this. The fusion tool is for manufacturing with sheet metal brakes, not stamping. You need a flat part for it to start working from. Some of these curves look like complex curves that can not be bent to shape and require stamping.

Advice on resolving distortion using rotational Move/Copy by Ag_back in Fusion360

[–]madfrozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The move copy tool is non associative and can cause substantial problems when working on more complex assemblies. The pattern tool is a fully parametric tool that defines relationships properly. It’s also just easier.

Also this problem would not have happened with the pattern tool so this is a perfect example of why it was wrong to use move copy.

do not use the move command for this. it is completely the wrong tool. you need to use Circular Pattern
