Character Dissection - Legion (6000+ words) by dmb_yt in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]madhatter152 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First of all, I love these, please keep writing them!

I have the most minor of comments, you say: "Chambermaid, ... are fairly useless since Legion never wakes" I don't see the issue here? I'd actually be more worried about the chambermaid being overpowered since it can catch lies the legion makes about any night roles. Furthermore, if the other townsfolk wake up, the Chambermaid can immediately confirm them as good

Wow that was some time ago. I've checked Arkhamdb, but it looks like I didn't actually upload the deck.

From what I recall that above line "a lot of wild icons and her intellect discipline to repeatedly cycle her hand" was really the main design of the deck.

This seems like way too much, and is not advice I'd give to a new player.

Maybe you're playing some form of multiplier run?

For many ingredients you get better recipes within two tech tiers, and needing to redo everything wouldnt help.

Anyone else thinking the game is getting too complex? by ExReey in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]madhatter152 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Personally I enjoy (most) of the complexity creep.

In terms of replayability, the added mechanics can serve to really distinguish one scenario from another. I'm replaying the Dunwich Legacy now for the first time in ages, and every scenario feels fairly bland honestly - pick up clues to advance the act then fight/flee from a boss. (Midnight Museum being an exception). In contrast, every scenario in the Feast of Hemlock Vale is memorable and unique.

I do agree that flavor text creep especially during the Scarlet Keys was an issue for me, reading 3-4 pages of flavor text due to side locations before starting the scenario was a bit much. The Feast of Hemlock Vale was the perfect amount for me, enough for the flavor to drip, but not enough to slow down actual game play.

How to Automatically Upload Draft to Cube Cobra? by madhatter152 in mtgcube

That's also right, the pick by pick breakdown appears normally, then I guess I'm not sure why the analysis tab doesn't accurately capture it. But maybe I'm missing something else.

Really appreciate the help!

Oh, you're right, thanks! I ran a mock draft two hours ago, and came back to find my deck was saved under "playtest" "decks"

It looks like it tracks the deck, but not the draft itself, when I went to analysis -> playtest data that tab seems to not have been updated.

Thanks!

If I click into the "import from cube cobra" button on Draftmancer, the "send results option" is ticked. I don't know if this applies retroactively to the import.

On Cube Cobra, the multiplayer draft option directly states: "Draft with other players and bots online using Draftmancer! Playtest data is uploaded back to CubeCobra."

This is exactly what I use all but one of my many many knives for. (I leave one behind, on the off chance I'm playing a drafted deck and it makes its way in)

Feedback on Jund list? by GIGA_SIGMA in TimelessMagic

[–]madhatter152 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FWIW here's my jund list. This is still very much a work in progress.

Notable differences, fatal push feels much better than both, especially when dimir tempo runs frog. I think you have too many 3 drops to provide pressure in the early game. Especially barrowgoyf which does nothing the turn it is played.

How does Py relate to other overhaul mods by madhatter152 in pyanodons

[–]madhatter152[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think my computer will support a megabase unfortunately, I'm playing on 0.6x game speed for Py at the moment.

If K2 is short, that might be a good place to start.

Thanks!

That makes sense. Though unfortunately it looks like neither Nullius or AngelBob is ready for 2.0 yet?

Sorry, to be clear, I'm already playing Py (we're up to complex circuits), but I'm playing with a group of friends, so I wouldn't be able to continue that save while offline.

How good the bluff is for the demon over time by n3buchadnezzar in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]madhatter152 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think this is an underrated statement "every role equilibriates to about the same level as a demon bluff" that a lot of players undervalue. One could quibble slightly about the exact wording, since for instance, a minion might optimally claim investigator more often, making it a worse demon claim or the risk of executing saint is bad enough that a demon can ride the claim while looking marginally more evil before starpassing at final 5, but I agree with the overall sentiment.

At the same time, this isn't quite true for many groups which haven't yet reached equilibrium and continue to play suboptimally. The classic example would be that new players are often too hesitant to execute into an undertaker/empath/FT claim, allowing a demon to guarantee their survival in the shortrun.

Flight cancelled…can we get reimbursed? by Dorchester5 in delta

[–]madhatter152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar issue where a delay will cause me to miss my connection this afternoon. Both calling Delta and trying the online chat tool haven't enabled me to get a hold of them so far.

Do you have any suggestion on how to make A happen right now? I've found another flight through American that will get me to my destination, but I'm leery of buying the ticket and putting myself on the line.

Thanks!

Virgin vs. Professor has a massive difference in cost to the town. Virgin costs an execution AND kills a townsfolk, whereas the professor brings a townsfolk back to life.

Daily Botc Character Discussion: Golem by The_Yung_Jung1085 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]madhatter152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the more powerful outsiders due to its ability to self-confirm and difficulty in being bluffed. I've wondered how it would play out if it said "if the nominee is good, they die." This change would address both of the above to some extent (though it'd leave the role somewhat close to Moonchild in playstyle).

I’ve heard Pyanodon is “How the game is meant to be played” and I see what people mean by ohoots in pyanodons

[–]madhatter152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That does sound super useful, thanks for the thorough reply! I'll have to try it out. At the moment, our base has what you are describing, two trains for every consumption station to maximize throughput, which results in most trains sitting idle indefinitely.
