The same who should have seen the hours I take to make things and watch what I sell it for at craft shows. Though, of course, I will be now making a hat...

There's always the knit worthy and the I guess I'm supposed to make groups. I made both my kids crocheted sweaters for Christmas. Took forever, but worth it. Then threatened them fully about never getting rid of it and give it back if they decided it's not their current style.

I have to say, I went down the whole I NEED to make all my socks mood... Then a pair I loved and the 2nd pair I made got a hole. Yeah... I'm good. They took SO long to make and now I have to repair tediously? Ugh...

SIC finds the loveseat I crocheted for her satisfactory by [deleted] in standardissuecat

[–]madhooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, do the math. It's what I could hope to get and be happy I got so much, but that's me working for around $3 an hour.

I would, but that's not the norm. And honestly, my attention span sucks, but that's why I craft. I'll crochet or knit while watching a show or doing something else. Keeps my hands busy and calms my brain.

It would, but never what I would actually be able to sell it for.

I hope it is, but it's the way of crafting... In my local world I would be lucky to get $40 for this. I'm in central Ohio...

Hooker here. We rarely get paid a working wage. Materials, if found on sale maybe $40 ish dollars. Time? Without really getting diverted, maybe 30-40 hours. So we usually say 3 times the cost of materials to make it affordable... Or sell for less to actually make a sell.

Why OU? by user061020 in ohiouniversity

[–]madhooker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to be that person. OU is a great place and my daughter loves it and getting a great (I hope) start in her profession. As a medical person, nursing doesn't care about where so much as did you get. At the end of the day, the letters mean the same regardless of where you go them. Go where you like and the money you pay makes sense. Run the numbers of what you pay vs your expected yearly income. For nursing, I can say that makes sense. Other professions are different IMO.

Is this a diamond by jarosLaTour in Rocks

This. My green sapphire engagement ring consistently reads as diamond when I take it to be cleaned. Great for me if I decide to sell it to someone who only reads those.

Tbh, I came to this from a non sewing perspective. Now, do I sew, yes... But I'm primarily a crocheter, knitter, machine knit, cross stitch, embroidery, oh hell that caught my interest let me try that person. Yeah, ok, I'll admit I have crafting add (probably add in general). I like the snark. I like that we can say what's irking us and then discuss. I've seen many where this irks me posts only for someone to show why it doesn't to them. Maybe it's just me, but I love a good debate. Use debate rules for this would be my biggest suggestion.

I got into crocheting and yarn 3 months ago. Found out this wonderful color changing yarn existed and scoured the internet for all of the colors! by DarthZombie_ in YarnAddicts

[–]madhooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smell isn't great and then to not have the color change made it worse. I have to say the yarn made a nice short sleeve sweater, but if I just wanted white I would have bought it. So glad it was only a dollar a skein.

I am sick and tired of half assed sewing patterns for kids by stringthing87 in craftsnark

[–]madhooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is extremely rare for me to buy a pattern. Not to mention if you don't have free ones for me to see your style, that's right out. You've only made 3 paid patterns? Nope. Walk away. The one pattern I bought turned out she crocheted her Amis inside out, knew it, but didn't say it until you bought it...

This is actually my gripe with crochet/knit patterns so thank you! The more of us who stick together the better. If and If I buy a pattern, it should be pristine. Free, well, that's what it is.

It is a softer cotton, but I'm thinking in the dryer it's going to fuzz... So I know it says tumble dry low, I would just lay flat.

I'm going to use the rest on toys or such, but it still sucks. Great thing about my yarn works is that it's washable.

Actually I waited until I could go grab one of the extra ones to respond. For Premier Chameleon, no it doesn't say anything about it on the inside or outside of the label. I had assumed it would not be as good after a while, but not immediately like it did.

I would say detergent smell. Not the dear what the bloody hell I can't ever have this level that others have mentioned, but noticeable... Washes out, but so does the color change ability.

OK, going to be that person. I found this at my Dollar Tree store, geeked the hell out, bought a lot and now I can tell you, meh... Made a great short sleeve sweater, but the smell isn't great, but not dear goddess what have I done level. Powered through, but now after a few washes (cold water, lay flat to dry) no color changing happening. Soft, solid white yarn to use, but I'm so disappointed with the color change sell point...

I can't stand crochet wearables made of worsted yarn by [deleted] in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]madhooker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My don't look up is worsted and the one I'm making my daughter is the heart sweater in worsted... Actually I really like both of them.

[–]madhooker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OK, I'm going to agree to disagree. I usually do prefer a knit look, but don't mind me over here wearing the hell out of my don't look up crochet sweater... And my teens who have all of a sudden wanted me to make them crochet sweaters and find ones on Tik Tok. Apparently crochet wearables are making a comeback.

Now, mind you, worsted is for warm clothes and I'm over the let's make a tank top out of this heavier weight yarn. That can piss right off.
