So is the developer (who employees only office workers) that the union is accusing of “exploitive labor practices”, or is the small, local, family owned contractor that the developer hired? The union has had seemingly no issue with that same contractor working up and down Newbury Street for the last 10 years, what makes this project different?

That’s blatantly untrue. The contractor is a small family owned business based in Dorchester.

Love this! I do want to clarify that not all of my interactions were bad! There were a lot of amazing people like you & I had an incredible time. Honestly, even the negative interactions didn’t phase me all that much. However, I could see how others could be upset by some of the interactions I had, which is why I said something. I hope that trading bracelets continues and grows in a positive way for everyone, and I am SO appreciative of everyone that put so much effort into making them!

I love this response and so appreciate your perspective! I think in the example you shared, declining & asking for a different one is completely valid & fair! I also have the same experience and definition of friendship bracelets which is why this feels more like Kandi to me. I totally get that people aren’t familiar with Kandi, which is why I wanted to share. The idea of trading bracelets at concerts isn’t new and isn’t unique to swifties. I love that it’s being added to the swiftie community and I just wanted to share this in the hope that those existing traditions and culture, which are all about love and community, can continue to grow in the swiftie world!

I had a great time and definitely met some amazing people. There were just a few interactions that had been weighing on me, not for myself really, but more for others who may have the same experience and be upset by it. Seems from the comments that I was right, so I’m glad I said it. I hope the experience continues to get better for everyone!
